Hi All, I have just stripped the head and cylinder off my 1989 gsxr250r. It’s not looking good, both exhaust valves on cylinder 4 are gone, inlet valves are really bent & piston is now open vented into crank case haha. I’m in New Zealand, not sure if it was a common bike here. Anyway I’m putting my feelers out to see if anyone has or knowswhere I can find a cylinder head. Also trying to find a workshop manual, after looking through many old threads I think it might not exist. But seams like the bandit is very similar GJ74A does anyone know if they have the same engine.?
They were imported here. Where are you ? A guy local to me had a couple plus bits last time I looked.I got one running for him a while back. He's talking about thinning the herd - he has rather a lot of bikes....
I wouldn’t say no to a complete engine either, I haven’t split the case yet so no sure if it’s done damage. Thanks
I done pretty much same to my gj73a Cobra,, Naked Gsxr250r,,,, Luckily I had a gj74a bandit head that I am rebuilding at the moment,,,
The bore and stroke is exactly the same for most of the gsx gsf variants. You can buy pistons rings and valves of the net, Ali express or the bay. Basically apart from engine casing differences (look wise) and barrels (for frame attachment) the motor is the same. Just make sure which hp version you have as the cdi and other internals are different. If you want the manual sign up to buyee and you can get it from Japan, then you have to translate it. Use gj73a in your search and be patient.
