Had a customer drop off a buggy which he mounted a ninja 300 engine into , no wiring . Just told to get it running had to do a heap of work on the cooling system , sort out brakes and now she is a goer , I managed a quick lap of the shed today and under power the front wheels are useless , they just lift. I think it’s time I buy one of these , I’d like to meet a nurse or 2
One good day, followed by one of disappointment, & anger,,,, Renew bike repairs motorcycle wreckers in SA neglected to inform me at least 2 head bolt tapped threads in the lower crankcase are stripped, what began as a simple snug up / torque of a head came to a sudden end when I felt the dreaded "that don't feel good" feeling, followed 1/2 turn later by much profanity
Not really what I’ve done to my bike , but I’m out for a while , had a boxing accident now need a few surgeries , had op yesterday to get the bone back in the hand, plate cones out in 6 weeks then re screwed to finish fusing not ideal, so many bike projects now won’t be going ahead
Something like that, so in a fit of boredom I just picked up another mc22 Jesus crist don’t even know how I m gonna load it tomorrow
Finishing off repairs on Spada “aftermarket” tail piece. Anyone hazard a guess as to what bike this may have been donated from? Seems to be a fibreglass aftermarket jobbie but fits so nicely on the Spada I may be looking to source some more.
While I wait for a helicoil kit to arrive (5 previously "installed" head hold down helicoils failed), I did some fiddlin', thinkin' , buyin' & pervin'
Hi James. First up a huge ouch . Wow , what a break , look's like you did a proper job making a mess of your hand with all of the screw's needed. Did you have gloves on , or was it a back yard fight club .
Na gloves on, all fair n above board , wraps also jus an awkward exchange the other guy apart from feeling really bad and taking me to the hospital, outside that he was unharmed he’s relatively inexperienced in boxing , go figure lol, I teach, so I was teaching him slipping outside the line , anyways as we worked up speed and variation ( which can go pear shaped quickly ) when teaching new things so as I threw the jab to the outside to assist him , he flinched , moved into it and struck the point of his elbow right on the glove seem perfect angle , nearly full pace , committed and then a big snap sound but yeah all’s fair , ya get that, no harm no foul , fixer up n get back out there
Had her maiden ride today , I found a small fuel leak which shouldn’t be too hard to sort out , pretty happy with the outcome
My little bundle of parts arrived from impex today for the SL125 so I can get on with finishing the engine on it... all I need it 1 tiny 6mm E clip, I need to get some bolts for the front guard mounting on the SRX so I will buy a few e clips at the same time.
Luckily , the whole carb bodies are bolted together, when I get time (trying to locate oversize 7mm helicoil kits or the last 2 days) I'll finish stripping the bowl tops & jet holders and remount a pair of carbs to get a better idea what to use as a bowl (x4), adding to the task is the inner cylinders being slightly offset, and the 2 outer pairs being offset quite a lot,, They carbs just clear each other on a "normal" cbr250
Good day gentlemen so my mc19 was getting hot in traffic drained the system , rusty n chunky gunk, thermostate was buggered and the housing corroded replaced all parts mentioned and flushed the system with a hose n back flush 10 times or so mall back together , my partner has to ride it cause I got the busted hand she ride it and it stayed between E and M Fans work etc but after a while when going slow it gets up the P but drops back down when getting some good airflow is this ok? It’s an improvement but not amazing ? Would next step be water pump impeller inspection poor flow at idle ?
James, I had a ZXR250A that ran hot at idle. Once I confirmed water was flowing through the system, I just installed a manual switch to turn on the fan whenever I was in traffic or in a prolonged idle situation. I also started using Penrite race coolant. I never checked the impeller as I think some engines just run a bit hot at idle.
Good stuff Kiffsta, Will look really good when the guy puts badges on it. Wish my 900RS had those style mudguards and indicators to make it look more like a 70s replica.
