Thanks jmw, will start with that, which preload adjusters did you get?

i found that exact thread, thanks greyimport

If I’m currently 56kg will the ninja 300 springs work well with my weight?

anything additional that I need to change or just purely swap them over?

I can not recall exactly which adjusters I used. Just purchased off ebay out of China. They all appear to be similar.

Not sure I am that keen on the KKK style. I think the knob on the top just obscures visibility of the adjustment marks. You are not going to adjust them all that often either.

Adjusters look like the ones I have used. :) Just check that they are the correct fit. I ended up with one set that were 1mm undersize at one point. I ended up giving them to a friend to try in his old CB350 four.
Where did you find the springs? I might look at a set for my track bike.
I shouldn't need them on my RC replica as it only weighs 117kg.

    Peter.

The Racetech bible is in the resources section. Measure your sag to determine where your springs are now. You can also add more oil which will stiffen up the air spring function of the fork.

Thanks Peter, yeah i thought it'd be the same as yours. I have a vernier caliper somewhere which hopefully should tell me whether it's the correct size.

this is the guy i got the fork springs from: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/643908666533156
if he doesnt post let me know and i can pick up for you as he aint too far from me

Thanks for the link @maelstrom i'll have a look at my sag to check where my springs are currently at and thanks for the tip about extra oil. I've got the fork springs now so i may as well use em.

I’ve changed my mind about the fork springs, I’m a light weight at 60kg so I don’t think for my weight stiffer springs are the go.

Will be listing them up for sale here or through the racers fb group will also have a work platform I built up for sale too. If any of you guys here that have been active in my thread are interested pm me.

Platform is gone and fork springs spoken for.

about to do my steering head bearings and fork rebuild and I’ve stripped the fairings off and thought, I actually quite like the naked look so am going to proceed with street fighting it slowly.

tyga fairings up for grabs which I’ll list in the for sale section soon (currently up on fb market), but this is how the bike is sitting now.

Question: if my fork seals are fine do I need to rebuild the entire fork or will new oil be enough?

I also have preload adjusters, can they be installed without removing oil?

If the seals are good (not leaking) just change the oil. There are different oil grades available to give softer or firmer damping feel. SAE20 is about the firmest you can get.
preload adjusters can be installed without needing to drain the oil.
Just support the front of the bike to take the load off the forks and front wheel [At a pinch, you can do one fork at a time without sort, but not as easy]. I just lift from the headstem/handle bars with my engine crane. Undo the old fork caps carefully (applying some downward pressure). WARNING: Watch out as the springs will force the caps up when you get to the end of the thread. Now screw in the new caps (under pressure again). Adjust the caps for the preload you need. Done.

Thanks! Great info! I need to do my steering head bearings so will remove the forks and drain the oil and install the preload adjusters whilst I’m at it.

Looks like my forks were rebuilt, oil was nice and clear and not stinky, so I left them as is. Just fitted the eBay spec preload adjusters.

have my triple tree out at a mechanics to have the lower bearing fitted hopefully get it all sorted.

also have, if anyone is interested, gold grips, I’m not a fan so they’re up for grabs

Horrible things. I had a similar set on one of my Mc22s. Took them off and fitted period, oem style grips.
