At a Bonham's auction, I am sure it would fetch more than 20000 AUD.

Probably, still nuts tho. I've never been a big 2 stroke fan tho.

If money were no object I’d be tempted by that RGV. But it would live in the loungeroom with all the other ridiculously overpriced relics I’d be buying. Someone has a pair of wire wheeled katanas on gumtree for $19500. Possibly too much but the 1000cc one is a fairly rare specimen . https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mou...rce=com.apple.uikit.activity.copytopasteboard These would make a nice addition to my fantasy garage as well.

I think this whole covid thing will stop a number of collectors opening their purses , but I think it will probably fetch $25k there have already been 2 bids

where else can you find one ?

on a side note, another rare 2 stroke, a Mc28 nsr250 , IMO 25k is a silly asking price for something that is not even close to OEM. I think he is asking he is asking twice what it is worth

The problem with that bike and all zero k classics is that it will depreciate astronomically with every kilometre added to that speedo. Hope it’s going in a glass case in the loungeroom

Yes. I would like something I can ride and enjoy as it was intended. If you just want something to look at, buy a painting or sculpture.

Not this black duck, if I had a spare 25k to blow on a 0 km rgv250 , I would register it, ride it and enjoy it. Bikes don't belong in glass boxes, they need to be ridden and enjoyed

Yes, I agree, sort of , but, I’ve only ever owed one new bike, a katana 750 and it lost 50% of its market value within 18 months. And half the fun is bringing old wrecks back to life. My point is the rgv’s sky high price tag was only achievable because of the lack of kms. This bike will rapidly slip from being a $25,000 bike to a $10,000 bike within 10,000 kms. I know that sort of depreciation is acceptable to many, especially people who buy new European cars, but I’d have difficulty wearing that, even if I could afford it. A well preserved rs 250 for $15,000 will smoke the rgv in acceleration , braking and cornering. I’m all in favour of hammering old bikes but this bike looses much of its significance the moment it rolls out onto the road. I’m guessing sometime in the future this bike will come up on the market again with exactly the same km reading.
