It is now based on a power to weight ratio... as far as I know it is 150kW per tonne. the manufacturers specify if the bike is LAMS when doing the certification and there would be an allowance for a rider as well... Hence the variations around the RVF and 400 Bandit.

As for pricing... all new bikes are going to be more expensive I feel.. apparently the new Postie bike (all 125cc) will be around A$8K on road here in Aus.... I guess they dont expect to sell too many lol

Cheers for that Andy..guess i'm just out of touch with pricing..I was hoping it would come in around the 10-11000AUD mark but I must of had a few tinneys to many when I started dreaming of a 250/4 with fuel injection!!! 8K$ for a 125..take it aprillia have relaunched the RS125 in Aus?!!!!!!!! Still be fun to read the reviews whilst I devise a plan to top up the savings jar!

Without knowing exactly, I think, that it depends on the HP/weight ratio, It's similar in Germany and other countries.
It could be that it will have about 50-50 HP, but too light for LAM apoproval.

That would be good value compared the the new CT125 Postie bike at around A$8K

Now we just need them to be sold by the boatload here in Thailand and I can buy up all the wrecks and ship the engines to Aus. :)

    Of course.

    Check this out.

Is it run in yet? Tis now. Well no wind drag, so we don't know the truth, but if it was like that in real life then it needs a smaller rear sprocket. Should be good for at least 200.

If it's dry you can hang up the bike...
50HP with injection is a little bit low regarding the old models. But for sure because of the exhaust regulations

so disappointing. Was anticipating closer to 60hp. And somehow it gained 21kg over previous ZXR-250. Was ready to line up partial-container shipper to send one over! :(

51hp at 17000 is excellent. 60hp from a 250, nope. 60 is standard for my FZR400. EFI doesn't give you hp. You will gain about 10% over the CV carbs just like you could get with FCR carbs. So the other gains have come from tuning efficiency. If you want 60hp I am guessing it will need to rev to about 22000 or more. It would be a complete slug down low, (unless equipped with 'variable' tuning bits) and destroy engine parts quickly. I imagine most of the the weight will be in the hideous bodywork and exhaust.
