I added a 2005 Ohlins catalogue to the resources section. Might be useful for those wanting to find matching shocks.
Got the spring off the shock today to find out its pooched so a replacement needed . These are the specs for the zxr250A2 Shock length: 285mm Shock stroke: 45mm +13 with no bump stop Top Mount: Style: eye Width: 28mm Hole : 12mm Bottom Mount: Style: Clevis Width: 30mm Diameter:12mm Spring: Free length:175 Wire: 10mm Outside: 76mm
Stroke as in the fully compressed spring length? That's the amount of coils . Unsure how to measure it so I guess a photo is better . Top and bottom are the ground down type. The top coil is also a tad smaller in diameter
Stroke is how much the shock changes in length from fully extended to fully compressed. Spring details here. https://litetek.co/Info_RearShock_GreyBikes.html
Ohh yeah I already did that . Stroke is 45mm to the rubber bumpstop and another 13mm before it's totally maxed out metal to metal
Just a bump in case anyone has a shock lying around and would like to add to the data table. https://www.litetek.co/Info_RearShock_GreyBikes.html Thanks in advance
But a 'b' is like an SP model isn't it? Taken me years to work that out. So should be the same if so.
Yeah it's from the sp model . Adjustable preload and dampening , also rebuild able (even though there is no specs anywhere...) Spring rate might higher than the ordinary one
MC22 (Measured off an old bike, rear shock dissasembled) Piston stroke (no bump stop) = 45mm; Bump Stop thickness = 21mm; Spring Dia = 11mm; Spring width = 79.5mm top, 81.6mm bottom; Relaxed Spring length = 144mm (143.8 in manual); Top eye width = 28.5 (measured on the bushing); Bottom clevis width = 32mm (internal) I've pulled 2 of these apart now and both have had 110mL of oil inside them. If you are keen you can seperate the piston and the shim stack on both compression and rebound and measure them. I am not that keen yet.
Thanks @Grant J. Just to clarify, there is 45mm of travel before the bump stop is reached? I added the info and also added a column for bump rubber thickness. Cheers Blair
No, I had the bump stop off the piston shaft at this stage so I just measured the full piston stroke, bottom out to top out. I'm guessing these rubbers are in all different stages of hardness and thickness by now, with very few of them ever being changed or replaced.
Shout out to @Jethalter for the shock dimensions from his Yamaha 3EN1. All contributions gratefully accepted. https://www.litetek.co/Info_RearShock_GreyBikes.html
Got some measurement of the zxr250 b shock. 4 dampening settings Length: 285mm Stroke: 42mm Bump rubber: 20mm Top mount Style: eye Width: 27.77mm Hole: 12mm Bottom mount Style: clevis Width: 28.35mm Hole: 12mm Spring Free length: 166mm Wire: 10.20mm Outside diameter: 77mm Active coils: 4 Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Thanks @TonyZXR, those are free spring length and diameter, yes? added to table spring rate calcs at 9.2kg/mm
Yep that's all right. Didn't expect the clevis to be smaller, that was a surprise , lucky i got the lower link with it Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
