    Hi how's it going.

I've just picked up a 2KR FZR250 which needs a bit of work as it's been sitting for quote some time I believe. Completely green to bikes so I'm excited by the learning experience, both in the repair and riding. Save for dirtbikes a few times seat time is practically zero. I'm a car mechanic so not new to oily bits but it should be good using and improving my skillset on a slightly different kinda machine.

Looks like a great forum here with a lot of good info and far more active than the car forums I used to frequent :(.

Anyways here are a couple of pics. WIll hopefully pop in fairly regularly for advice and progress :)

If those are the original fairings, they are quite rare and yours looks to be in good condition as well.

Thanks! I believe they're original though I'm not sure how you tell? They look to have part numbers or something stamped on the inside. It definitely seems like it was looked after most of its life. There is some damage especially some cracked areas on the LHS engine cover?
When I got it all the fairings were off so I've just mocked them up on there. I got a box with all the mirrors, indicators etc. but I'll leave them off until it's back together properly.

Nice man, that's a cracking FZR. Jealous of the fairings, they look so mint. Hopefully they're OEM!

I have a club in melbourne you might also be interested in, we do club rego and a few of us have built FZR's so between here and there there's a lot of help around.

Hopefully we can catch up for a ride sometime.

I joined your FB group over the weekend actually :D

Just grabbed a pic of the stuff moulded inside the fairing. Looks similar to whats in the back of a lot of same era Japanese car plastics though I'm not sure that means much.

Welcome and agree with everyone. Very rare version you have there and looks great. I have only seen a pic of these that were located in Japan.

Cheers everyone. Have purchased a set of carb seal kits so will be going through those once they arrive. Does anyone know if there's an aftermarket Lower carb/intake boot that works? Looks like they're readily available for 3LN models but not 2KR. Saw some for some 400s that look very similar but I'm not sure on the dimensions. Will pull em off and have a suss over the weekend I guess. OEM ones are very expensive compared to the chinese versions hey.

There some Kiwami 2KR intake manifold's on Yahoo for $183 plus post

    https://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/impex-mall/0084-y0712-jc-1hx.html

You might be able to get away with using some Sikaflex Windscreen Urethane on them to fill the crack's as a temporary measure till you find new intake manifold's
I used some on my old 3LN manifold's while i was waiting for new one's to arrive

Those worked out heaps cheaper than even Impex own site. Cheers, I've ordered a set.

I think Impex may be using Yahoo as a clearance site for some of their new old stock part's ?
