I did not see the broken "NeverEasyOut" post. Oh well. You have to grind it out with your Dremel. Throw those easy-out things in the bin and get some Ridgid screw extractors.

So its running .... I pulled the top off the air box and it started straight up .... so we have an air intake mystery .... the foam seal between the airbox and chassis was missing and I made a seal so the intake was again sealed at that point as it had a big gap .... but then it doesnt start :idk:

As u can see below the air intake is quite big .... it goes thru the chassis then the plastic tube (13/14) then the triangular opening (29) at the middle of the front cowling ... there would have to be a possum living in there to block that up

It's quite common on Daytonas and the street triples for the fuel line to kink when the tank is set down into position. Not sure if you had the tank down when it wasn't starting, but it's something to check.

Was it cranking over normally or just not turning over at all?

Cranking normally and the tank was back on .... its the air intake ... Ill have to eventually pull all the front apart and see if theres something blocking it
Started instantly with the airbox lid off and tank sitting on a stool... even with the battery on only 12V

Edit : So checked thru the intake with compressed and its fine .... and its not the filter as it ran fine with it closed up but the gap at the front as mentioned earlier

    :idk:

So just to defy any logical explanation ... I put the airbox lid back on and it started as normal ... maybe the fuel line was kinked when I put the tank back on before

    Bikes and women ..... :help:

Up for rego inspection wednesday so all needs to be in working/running order ... and after that I can go back and sort the broken bolt saga ... also have some new bolts (stator cover and engine mounts where all the crash protection junk is being removed) and other bits coming from the dealer thursday maybe.

Seal Doctor seems to have done its job .... after the ride today theres no leaks .... or maybe theres just no oil left in it :D

All needs doing though as the dust seals have tiny cracks anyway

So after the ride today I investigated the hairy throttle problem ... after posting on the Daytona FB page the track/racer lads said its definately not standard (go fast boys fit a '1050' tube ).... and a stock throttle tube is only about $25 from Triumph , so thats an easy fix ..... as u can see by the 'closed to WOT marks' , there aint much ! .... great for the track but crazy on roundabouts

Bit of an oil leak also , but I think thats the alternator cover/wiring grommet needs taking off and resealing

Good lord.....that isnt even a quarter turn... no wonder it is difficult around town. I would have thought it would be difficult even on the track... it would be tough to feather it on a trailing throttle...lol

Yea crazy stuff ... from my research its a common 'mod' ... they use a Triumph 1050 sprint throttle tube and alot say its very 'touchy' though :lolsign:

A guy on FB is sending me his stock tube for nicks so hopefully it will make it much easier to ride

Interesting and good to know the 2 screws holding the throttle housing are JIS

Also discovered the secret to the bar ends /weights
