Have you figured out what went wrong the with blown Fizzer engine? Apart from the problem between the handlebars and the seat?
motor blew- some mechanical failure and will micro exam later. spoke to an old mechanic a while ago and he called them grenade motors and they had little end/gudgeon pin problems like the rod breaking or the gudgeon pulling out of the piston. will get to the bottom of it but not a high priority.
I’m pretty sure it went like this Risky : hmm funny sound coming from the fizzer Murdo : switch it off, I will take a look later Risky : I didn’t drive all this way not to Run , here hold my cup of tea and packet of werthers originals Fzr250: **** me this going to hurt Risky : lets hit the limiter (light goes green) Fzr250- says **** you john , boooooooom
18000 rpm while on a trailer = grenade motor mechanics ... wouldnt know if a shark bit them on the arse
when a motor rattles at the drags it is gone. blown enough grey engines to know. will check the engine when i pull it out. i believe kiffsta once said he did have 3 fzr,s fail and moved on to other brands for reliability.will this motor be revved to the redline- not likely.
I think Linkin ran 9.7 on his FZR at Gunnedah and then ran 8.8 on his ZXR at the same strip. Even taking into account different weather conditions and rider experience, I think the ZXR is a quicker bike on the drag strip. CBR seems quicker too. Never run a GSXR down the strip, so unknown. From riding my wife's GSXR (early twin carb version) on the street, I would say it might be the slowest of the lot. Good thing about handicap racing is you don't have to destroy your bike or run the fastest in order to win. Looking forward to seeing @risky and the FZR back at the strip.
Anyone know much about the gb400, I picked this one up yesterday. Has a broken fairing which can be fixed, thinking this might serve for my cafe racer fix and the gt380 Can go back to stock
A good thing, light, reliable and fairly swift if ridden well. Uses the Honda XL/XR RFVC dry sump engine so parts no problem. The seat and fairing are not original. If you don't want it a bloke here is looking for one.
Spent the day seeing how close the SRX600 forks are with the FZR250 front wheel and brakes. Not close enough unfortunately. The caliper offset needs to be about 5mm more and then 5mm spacers for the calipers to Centre the disc. It might just be easier to use the SRX600 front and rear wheels. Then I only have to sort out the brake torque rod and slightly larger rear disc. It is still easier than using the 38mm forks and having to make spacers everywhere. I bought a vtr250, was hoping it just needed chain and sprockets and little else. Alas, not so. No brakes working, handlebars have been replaced with flat bar, carbies need cleaning and we think the valve clearances need adjusting. That's a backburner job, now. The yz250 motor is nearing completion. But went back to the ZXR, which I thought was just fairings and tyres. Sigh. The rear subframe is bent (hopefully that is all that's bent), but fortunately I have spares. Turns out I have about a dozen projects on the go... FINISH ONE!
Today i bought a used (only 4 times) Innovate portable wideband 02 sensor data logging gauge to use on my bike's and car
