Project Suzuki Across Engine Swap

Sad news, I'll upload pics later explaining it.

Frame on jig, not a problem there, took out enough to get the motor to go in. Sit the carbs roughly where they need to be.

Glove box has no chance of sitting down, It would need to be completely gutted and even then i dont think it will fit over the width of the carbs and engine.

So i'm just gonna scrap the frame, sell the engine. The amount of effort to make it all work is just not worth it. I'd rather just go out and get another Hyosung GT650R.

Anyone want a gsf400 vc motor ???

 

No idea tbh, from a quick glance i got a look at one, it didn't seem too but i didn't have anything to measure.
I've heard the carbs are the same on the 400 and 250, so anything is plausable

 

Ok so here are some pics as promised.

Basically the front tip of the glove box that looks like its touching the stem thread(it isn't) is sitting about 6-8 inches too high.
Can it be done, sure, but its a lot more than just remaking the frame rails, to the point where its a more full on build than any of my other bikes. Its not worth doing to be honest.
The biggest thing with this, is the size of the head, if it was a touch smaller things would work better.
Other things like carbs / pods setup isnt too bad, thats fairly easy done and fit.
But its a hell of a lot of fairing work, to widen and such and at this point i dont know if that glove box hollowed out would go over the engine. Rather than hack it up, i'd rather use it to repaint the fairings for my other across as a changeover.

Least i can say i had a decent look at doing it. Also GS500 won't fit, possibly on 2 things, you'd have to remove the brace that goes on left to right rail underneath the battery and relocate the battery.

 

Both JIG and the GSF400 engine up for grabs if anyone wants them.
