has anyone bought or fitted the clake clutch/rear brake systems , not cheap , almost a grand each ,says designed for a Brembo master cylinder ,sent a enquiry about if suitable for a zxr250c also if suitable for the xs650 with the drum brake conversion kit , kits another 220 on top of unit price ,its a big $$ cost so some feed back first would be great , have a old klictronic (electronic gear changer) thinking of fitting to the zxr as well ,bought it 2nd hand yrs ago for the xs650 but didn't fit as placement wasn't very suitable for the older bikes but should be for the zxr250 but wonder if the gearbox would be strong enough without a ign interupter
I have just heard back from clake and they don't know about the grey imports model wise, my zxr250c 2000-03 would be the same clutch/brake set up as the 1998-99 models wouldn't they? if so said would need a hyd clutch conversion .. extra $220 if so ..so are the 1998-99 model be the same as mine … no luck with the xs650
What's the point? Why not just use the stock one? Seems like an epic waste of money for little to no benefit.
got a dodgy right foot , cant use the back brake and unlike my xs650 the 250 hasn't a lot of engine braking
Some here, but not cheap. http://superbikesource.com.au/products/IMA-Thumb-Brake.html https://www.demon-tweeks.com/au/gp-tech-billet-handlebar-mounted-thumb-brake-243615/ Don't see why you couldn't get a master cylinder from a pit bike, shorten the lever and mount it on left bar near the clutch. An extended line and your away. Like this. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10mm-Ba...899135?hash=item3ab91eaf7f:g:MRoAAOSwQFNbB7tx https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1500mm-...954687?hash=item3fadb0573f:g:x-gAAOSwVvRbCq7q
thanks murdo , will give them a good read , prob with most of the thumb brake set ups iv seen is lack of room on the zxr bars ,be ok for the xs650 , for racing plenty of room without the switches .. damm don't know how you find them all been looking for ages and havnt found these ones
Ok, what about something like R100 Beemers had with cable to mastercylinder. Using a decompressor lever like from an XT500 with short cable to lever on mastercylinder mounted where ever you can fit it. Or, what about using a long cable from decompressor lever down to the footbrake M/C, then you could leave everything in place and still be using the rear brake lever, just moved by cable from bars.
have been looking at using a decomp lever from a early xs650 as a front brake as you suggested, tossing up using it that way or as a actual decomp (have the 750 up grade, pig to kick over) so the xt500 one is a good idea ,as the zxr still has new toy status and in very good nick after something that looks like it came out with it .. its a keeper .. the ima one looks intresting and a lot cheaper then the clake … have front and rear brakes on the bars of my piagio mp3 and its amazing how easy and quick the reaction time is compared to using the foot brake but it doesn't have a manual clutch (also better feel when get use to it) and iv been brought up on standard foot drum braking (old fart) lol its strange even though cant bent the foot I still automatically try to press the pedal down when braking, the only benefit can see about the clake is not having to worry about the clutch those time when wanting to use both
You could use the short lever from these pit bike lever's on that hydraulic master ^^, ASV upside down is still ASV https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hot-ASV-Series-Short-Clutch-Brake-Folding-Lever-Fit-Dirt-Bike-Pit-Pro-bike-Alloy/123292365176?var=423695318609&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=1&asc=20140122130056&meid=a8cec4ce2b794054af4c928ec904da37&pid=100010&rk=1&rkt=2&sd=123292365176&itm=423695318609&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109 OORacing in UK sell a cable clutch lever with built in decomp lever cheap The picture show's how easy it'd be to convert your own clutch lever, if you can work out a way to hook up the rear master via cable https://www.ooracing.com/lever-clutch-includes-a-choke/decomp-lever-p3286.html There's still a lot of different 2 finger lever's around too for stunt work
And some long cables to fit. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Color-1...m=281358928452&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219
that's the difference being old …. and young …. would never have thought of looking under stunt gear etc there is a lot and some very cheap .. some quality is most prob cheap as well .. never trusted cheap master cyds much though .. hughs handbuilt sold pitbike hyd clutch conversion (for xs650) for a while and got himself in a lot of trouble due to inconcistances with quality control (china) .. bought one myself for the xs650 then spent the money on a heidens one and never regreted the extra $$ , any thoughts on whats better for a rd bike bar or fork mounted
Not sure how old you are but i'm 51 in a couple of months, lol. A lot of the older china hydraulic slaves ended up leaking due to bad quality/design. The newer ones have less problems. And yeah theres lots of different quality masters around now too.
that is way cheaper then getting cables made up ,over the yrs tried making my own but never mastered the art of keeping the nipples on more then a couple of weeks
at the moment tossing up between the ima and the gp ones ,a bit $$$ but both look suitable , wary of cheaper china made stuff , got a box of rubbish bought over the yrs , and they both look well made and a lot cheaper than the clake ,found sometimes better and cheaper to buy quality in the long run
Don't use lead based solder. Use a Tin-Silver solder like CIG Metal Mate and a propane torch. I do not know if they still sell it but you can get the same from other companies. http://www.burnback.com.au/uploaded..._kit,_aluminium_flux,_copper_&_brass_flux.pdf Good video from Venhill about bird caging the end. I used Venhill cables for a very long time on a lot of customer's bikes and my own, never had a failure.
