Hey Linkin.. Yes. Those and the windscreen. Wasn't keen on shipping an entire kit from China just for that.. I did chat to Simon Long and he said he could make some fibreglass fairings as he still had the moulds somewhere.. Thanks.
In all honesty I would find some original intact side fairings and have them repainted, using your existing pieces as a colour sample. A windscreen from ebay/aliexpress will do, just make sure its for a late model 3LN3/5/6/7 and not a 3LN1 as they are different... as was the case with the front sprockets, the usual suspects offer a 'one size fits all' item that may not fit at all
Lower fairing's on ebay for $268 the pair If you send the seller a couple of photo's of your bike he should be able to give you a red that's pretty close https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Left-Ri...875317?hash=item4432d942b5:g:IMQAAOSwxx1cNacX The FZR250R 3LN windscreen's in the Yamaha part's list are the same for 3LN1 and 3LN3 and onward's, I think the one's people have received that are wrong are for the 2KR's, the shape is different. I received a 2KR windscreen and had to modify/redrill it to fit, ended up being a touch too short at each end The windscreen i have on my bike now is a modified 90's GSXR750 windscreen from memory. This is the correct shape for a 3LN Windscreen https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mot...92-4b73-9c15-23ed18b9a12e&transAbTest=ae803_5 Some hole's are missing in their pic though
Eagle screen's have FZR250R windscreen's in QLD http://www.eaglescreens.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Y10-11-12Prices.jpg And so do AJ Plastic's Manufacturing https://www.ajpm.com.au/products/20
The parts list is wrong ... not for the first time either 3LN1 screen is different than the later models ... the headlight cowling is a different shape but its not obvious till u try to fit the wrong screen Eagle screens has the schematics correct ... well the middle one definately is a 3LN1 screen as I just measured a spare one .... but they have the years wrong .... first should be up to 88 .... middle is 1989 ... last one is 90 onwards When I get a chance Ill take off the pink bike screen and measure it also to confirm its correct and redo a schematic for reference on the forum A couple of Aliexpress sellers had them listed as a 3LN1 screen and had the later models listed as another item ... but that was awhile back 2KR screens dont have the cutouts
I still have the broken screen i received damaged on ebay, and the one i got to replace it, but i cracked it when i caught the mirror on a post when moving it. I can measure them up too. From memory the one i cracked was about 10mm too short at the back for my 3LN3. The chinese ones are too thin imo (only 3mm thick).
@Dave Lloyd those chinese fairings, a lot of the sellers on aliexpress also sell them in unpainted form and they're a bit cheaper, that ebay seller ^ might be able to sell you unpainted fairings too?
Been doing some research on those batwing fairings on ebay, and they look like they could be the go. Thanks @my67xr. The guys on the end of that ebay ad are pretty responsive. Although they only specify the 90-92 3LN, are these going to fit the '93 3LN6 (as confirmed by my serial number)? Appreciate the advice.
@Dave Lloyd As happens with the screens alot of sellers dont know the models, correct years or the variations from year to year etc Also the aftermarket fairings are notorious for not lining up or misalignment of the fixing holes so its a bit of the luck of the draw anyway I cant be sure that if there are differences in the factory cowlings/fairings from the 3LN3 thru to the 3LN7 Heres @Linkin 3LN6 Chinese fairing kit .... https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/linkins-fzr250-3ln6.2869/page-14#post-83626
I measured up the 3LN6 screen in situ .... it equates to the bottom diagram as above It appears to be the original screen also ... rubber trim and all
Yeah i have been speaking to them about some new fairing's for mine, they have the 3LN3 and onward's fairing's available to them but they haven't listed them on ebay With the paint, they don't have the paint code's to match the factory colour's even though i gave the colour/code's to them, so i said to use the blackest black they have (hopefully Onyx Black) then a couple of coat's of Royal Blue pearl and finish it off with 2-3 coat's of clear 2 pack.
Hi guys. Many thanks for the feedback provided so far. Things are progressing well. Of course, I've got carby problems (still have cylinder head temp issues on number 4, and sometimes stalling on idle when hot (always fun at traffic lights in Sydney). Apart it's running really well. In an effort to look at the last few bugs, I'm looking into what was in the rebuild kit that was supplied to the guys that did the carby clean and rebuild job for me (I can hear someone saying "I told you so")... I've found a main jetting problem, and as soon as a #97.5 is sent to me to replace the #100 in carb 3, I should be ok there. I've got a question is about needles and emulsion tubes (pictured below). How can I tell the emulsion tubes are any good, or need to be replaced / sleeved? As for the needles - I can see some yellowing on one needle, but apart from that, I can't see any wear marks. Should these be ok to re-use? These have come up great after a bath in carby cleaner overnight. I'm yet to find out the spec of the emulsion tubes that came in the rebuild kit, and are in the carbies at the moment, but the needles have Y471 / Y472 on them. They are also on the lowest clip position. Turns out I've got a 3LN6 (as per serial number lookup) with 3LN5 carbies. Is that unusual? Cheers.
