    New MC 22 owner here

    Picked up a MC 22 on Saturday, my Brother checked it out with me and rode it home while I drove his car back
    He dropped it....
    No biggie, we sourced some indicators on Gummy that evening and it was back together the next day
    Started Sunday no worries, Idled for about 10 minutes then died, it started again...reluctantly
    Decided to take it in for a Roady on Monday morning...do you think it would start? Nope.
    Spent the last 2 days trying to get it running but no luck, flushed the tank, new plugs, no go.


    Guess I,ll have to determine if it is indeed getting fuel.
    Hope I'll get some tips here on 2fifty, thanks.

    Sounds like charging system issues - not charging at idle. Check the battery voltage when resting, during starting, and when running/idling and at a few thousand revs.

    Thanks for the replies and welcomes, much appreciated:thumb_ups:


    I tried bump starting it with no success, a second person would have helped, I am too old to be running down laneways with motorcycles
    I will get the MM on to it, thanks Linkin:)

    I have been told using premium fuel could also be an issue (?}

    I was planning on determining whether fuel is actually getting to carbs by using some clear tube
    Does hitting the starter draw fuel or not? If not how can I determine if it is geting fuel if I cannot start the bike at all?

    Just start with checking the resting voltage of the battery with the ignition off.

    Pull hose off fuel tap and see if fuel flowing. Then open drain screw in bottom of fuel bowls on carbs. Any fuel come out?

    Yes mostly ... read that link I posted .... could just be a dead/nearly dead battery ... has to be 12.6 volts before anything else

    Ultimately it will probably need a carby clean/overhaul ..... as u can see by the majority of threads/postings here on the old inline 4s ... its carbys , carbys ... then possibly .. carbys

    Does it have a fuel filter ?

    Fuel filter?
    On the fuel line hose? No , nothing, just the 2 hoses coming off the petcock

    The fuel taps can be problematic if they dry out , how are you trying to start the bike ? It should be full choke and no throttle , As you crank the engine , cylinder 1 has a vacuum hose connected to the fuel tap , it creates suction and fuel will flow from the tank to the carbs. Trying to start it will heaps of throttle can fowl the plugs

    I try starting it as you recommend kiffsta
    I,ll definitely change the fuel as I have been using premium, didn't realise these bikes don't like it
    It's looking more and more like an electrical issue, I,ll try to see if I,m getting spark tomorrow by putting plugs against the block while hitting the starter
    I,ll also connect the car whilst idling to the bike battery (battery may be buggered, Its on its 3rd recharge now)
    Check those fuses in the left hand air intake (?)

    These bikes definitely need a good battery, when you test for spark, make sure you check all 4 caps, I have seen plenty of loose caps

    I tested for spark against the block today, all four plugs got spark though I was expecting a fat blue spark, it seemed pretty weak and just visible, does this sound right?
    Tried aerostart down the velocity stacks but still could not start the bike today...

    Okay, so the air box is off , might as well pull the carburettors off and check the pilot jets for blockages.

    Also check your insulators that sit between the head and carbs, idle they are hard. I would replace them, only use oem ones, the Chinese ones crack when they get hot

    Today I noticed that the kill switch is not functioning and allows the bike to crank over in either the ON or OFF position.
    Would this have anything to do with not being able to start the bike?
