Rebuilt the seat with some new high density foam and took to get recovered in the original blue colour.

New radiator arrived yesterday and I cut the mounts off the old rad and glued/riveted to the new one. Some black paint and fitted the fan and shroud, ready to fit.
The forks arrived from the re chromers while I was away. Keen to get in and do some bike stuff so forks now in, handle bars and levers/switches fitted, wheel in and brakes bled.
Took the barrels to be rebored. I bought .50mm oversize pistons but am worried the rust may be too deep and will need to go bigger. The machinist is going to do the rusty No1 first and see if it cleans up alright.
The fairings needed some attention with welding of cracks, attaching of button mounts and had to make a corner for one side panel. Biggest problem was one of the main fairing mounts was completely broken with only the brass threaded bushing left. I cut up pieces of ABS from other Honda fairings and soaked in Acetone to make a thick liquid goo. Using a piece of 25mm plastic hose greased on the inside I siliconed that to the fairing, fitted the brass bush and poured in the goo. Will take a few days to set but could not think of a better way to do it. When set I can trim it to look like the other side and paint. Most of the paint wasn't too bad but with lots of small scratches and chips. I sanded them down and borrowed an air brush from my daughter and was able to get most of them hidden. A light sand with 1200 grit and a couple of coats of 2k clear and looks pretty 'snazzy'.
With the new Chineseum fuel tap fitted I found the shaft to be about 6mm too long. The original fuel tap handle had split and needed some repair too. I plastic welded it back together then drilled with 7.5mm drill 6mm deeper into the recess. Then using a 3mm end milling tool in drill press and turning the X and Y axis of the vice I milled out the corners. Cleanup with file and sharp knife and fits tops.
The mounting piece that I made has dried out and I trimmed up with a dremel wheel. Has a bit of porosity on the end but is holding firm and screwed up tight to frame ok after painting.
Got my block back from the reboring today. The .5mm overbore just cleaned up the rust marks. Party in the laundry tub with hot soapy water.
(More Bitchin stuff for the err Bitches?) Unable to buy the correct MC-14 (KT7 prefix) pistons I bought MC-22 (KAZ) and needed to remove a small amount from the shoulders of the centre ridge. I made a template from some aluminium sheet filed to fit the original piston as a guide. I used an old drill holder bolted to a plate mounted on the carriage of the lathe and a piece of PVC pipe to protect the alloy. Bolted a lathe tool holder to the chuck and spun on medium speed. By slowly moving the carriage forward and across I was able to chip off the required amount. Took a while to set up but was easy to repeat on both sides of each piston. One on right done, left to do. To finish the cut outs I used a sanding drum in a Dremel to smooth the edges. Made a wooden block to hold them too. Installed.
Got the head assembled and fitted and was setting the valve clearances (cam on measure, cam off, change shim, cam on, etc) when one of the cam cap dowels dropped neatly down No 4 spark plug hole and landed on top of the piston. I made several remarks about it being a fornicator and how it's parents weren't married. It went down here. When I calmed down and had a think about it (and after trying many different methods to retrieve it) I thought on a piece of plastic hose with a broken piece of a strong magnet inside it and after a few attempts was able to get the hose through the dowel and hold with the magnet whilst carefully drawing out through plug hole.
Unable to find a centre stand worldwide, I used an old CB250 one that I had put away in my shed. Had to slice it down the middle and take out 10mm to make it fit the CBR frame mounts. Bushed the worn end with some 16x1.6mm tube and welded back together. Made the mounting bolt from a 1/2"UNC SHCS machined down to suit and threaded 10mm on end. Welded a strap mounting onto right side to sit on exhaust with rubber pad. Sandblasted and a coat of paint and fitted just right. Sits the back tyre about 25mm off the ground and folds up out of the way.
