Hi guys, starting to purchase more internals- done the OEM stem seals and bearings and will be ebaying a full set of OEM gaskets (jesus people ask a lot)

What's everybodys consensus on piston rings? are chinese sets worth the risk? has anybody found a cheap oem option that I've missed?

    All input would be appreciated

Have you tried impex Japan for the rings ? I think they only have the .5 overbore ones left . There's megazip aswell it seems popular with frequents on this site and there's grey import spares . I'd try those if you haven't already . As for the Chinese rings I have no knowledge on them at all

I've used the Chinese rings (and pistons) in a couple of engines, so far no problems.

Pistons too really? I bought a set years ago but was far too scared to put them anywhere near the bike; Machining was pretty rough and the cast surfaces just scared me! What's the "Brand" you've used?

The AHL branded stuff on aliexpress has always proved to be of decent quality. When I ordered FZR250 3LN pistons, the casting marks were identical.

    what @Linkin said

Here's a link to some discussion here and also on another site where Mike Norman from MNGForce rebuilt a race bike with chinese pistons and rings

    https://www.2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/oem-replacement-piston-rings.9409/#post-101529

He said same casting as OEM pistons and only difference was the circlip groove to hold the piston pins, rings weren't fantastic however consider it was a race bike - you could try contacting him as he was looking into getting OEM quality rings done for the 250's, not sure what became of his quest
