Ran against Murdo twice. Beaten both times, by a whisker on the first run and on the second I missed a gear, but still ran a 9.2. Also got down to 1.991 60ft and lofted the front wheel on launch for the first time ever!

1.991 60ft is excellent work too. You've had a weekend to savour Linkin. Remember to post some of your quicker timeslips and any pics/vids you took.

    So, did Murdo win?

I went home, a plane had to land so there was a break. I suspect we will hear from him tonight :thumb_ups:

Well, it would be interesting to hear what Linkin thinks. He's raced both FZR and ZXR, so he's best qualified (excuss the pun) to tell us which he feels is the better bike. Although, in the FZR's defense, Linkin has modified his ZXR, so might not be a fair comparison. Next Gunnedah meeting should be a cracker if you can get your drag bike ready in time. I'll be there and I'm guessing Linkin will come back to run the quick numbers again!

Plus Linkin has some nice sticky rubber on his bike too.. At least with a dedicated drag bike you can concentrate your $$ on the rear tyre.. and play with the tyre pressure to get the beast launch.. most likely that will be much lower than you would use on the road..
Linkin also has the advantage of size and weight (or lack of) on his side too..

Shame that only three turned up to race (there was a spectators Highly Dangerous parked near us today, maybe just wanted to be with the real motorcycles) but we tried hard and had fun.
Saturday was windy and cold with coats and beanies required (between runs) with hot coffee at hand. Mick R1, Linkin ZXR250 and myself on CBR250. We each had six runs with Linkin and I taking turns with the R1 and each other. The R1 runs low 7's so it was not really a race but someone in the other lane.

My best time with the wind was a 9.74.
    Gunnedah May 18 011.jpg
Sunday dawned clear and bright with a slight chilly breeze that had turned to more of a crosswind that eased off as the day got a bit warmer. We had 7 runs and I ran a PB of 9.31, getting my 60ft times down to 2.11 and speed up to 118.4Km/h, so very happy with my little bike.
    Gunnedah May 18 019.jpg
I ran Linkin in the eliminations and won (he had a bit of trouble and I think it would have been the other way around if he didn't), then up against the R1 in the final just missing out by 0.03 second (he is doing 162Km/h across the finish line to my 110Km/h) to claim the runner up trophy.

Top weekend all round. Would like to have more bikes there next time (August 11 and 12)

Wow, Murdo ran a 9.31@118kph. That's awesome (he's in our weight class). Looks like he shut down (braked) at the finish line when he ran Linkin in eliminations. I'm guessing Murdo is very happy with his weekend. I need to get more time at the track to see if I can catch his 9.31...no chance of running an 8.8 though.

Sorry, I typed this before Murdo's post, so seems back to front.

Congrats Murdo. Great weekend of great ET's and speed. See you in August.

By the way, you ran a 2.09 60ft in qualifying too.

Good spotting, I did too. Too tired to see straight now, night.

I think @Linkin should run his very fast bike on the quarter mile. I agree with @my67xr that he can run a 13.something on the 1/4 mile. There's a fairly good drag strip in Sydney which he might be able to get to. There's a bike night on the 11th of October. I'd even go up to watch him run.

It's like 1/8 mile, except you can use a few more gears and do illegal speeds without worrying about the cops. Seriously though, you should run high 13's at 100+ mph with that bike. The bike night is 2 days before the October Gunnedah meet, so I will probably pop in if you decide to run. I'll just drive to Tamworth via Sydney.

Effing windy in Melbourne this morning. I'm glad I'm not racing here. I'm going to need a few of these when I get there.

I wonder if it is a trained barista, or someone who got a cheap pod machine from Aldi with a wannabe hipster beard ?

This town is hipsterville these days ... theres coffee shops with the cosmopolitan footpath seating , drive thru lattes and mobile coffee vans by the hundreds ..... but the old thermos + tea bag will do for the drags :D
