I once heard of a case similar to yours, and the complainee put her stereo speakers in the windows facing the complainer. She then played a continuous loop of a large dog barking at select times. She said both the dog and the neighbour were rabid.

hate to say it but you might just have to live with the crap annoying as it is ..with some of these idiots its a control thing and no matter what you do they still wont be happy .. in a funny way if you do react it does make them happy .. iv a long very steep curved drive way with no fence between next door and my self... when first got the place was taking my driveway at speed while getting use to it (old slow hilux desil) next door complained .. was not safe as they might be standing on my driveway sometime.. my reaction burst out laughing and told them to get a life . they didn't like being embarrest and left me alone after that

I remembered yesterday that when he had been living there for a year, one day when i was out the back i smelt paint.
Looked over his fence and saw him and his son inlaw painting a couple of panel's for his green Mazda 121.
I might need to remind him of this next time he say's something, and let him know that 2x 40cm x 46cm shelf's are about a 1/4 of what he was painting at home in his backyard back then.

Stuff buying him beer's, i would be lucky to have 1 alcoholic drink per year

Neighbour has the day off work today, and guess what i've been doing.
Yes, working on the new trailer again (not intentionally on his day off either)

    20180127_104752.jpg

I picked up some steel yesterday to make a new drawbar, and bought a pair of spring's, spring hanger's and spring slide's.
Cut the drawbar to size, and welded it and the spring hanger's etc on to the chassis today, then cleaned it up and primed the weld's.
I'm now ready to cut the side's etc off the old trailer and prep them ready to weld to the new chassis.
Haven't heard anything from next door yet

That was pretty easy, anyone need a flat top 6x4 trailer chassis suit restoration ? it's going cheap...
I wonder what happened to that fish and chip shop up in QLD, (trailer is originally from QLD) maybe they just got a new sign ?

That might not be bad, they may just want to hear your side of the story. As has been mentioned, a certain neighbour is being a vexatious complainant.

If he continues then perhaps a cease and desist letter with the implied suggestion of legal action if it continues.

I spoke with the council officer about half hour after i posted this, her rang me back after i left him a message..
He asked about what i was painting and what i used to do it,
i explained that i used some engine enamel from an aerosol tin to paint the side shelves on my BBQ, and that it took about 5 minute's or so to give it 2x coat's of paint and all up it took about 15 minute's to do including 10 min's of drying time between coat's, the officer was stunned that someone would complain about that.
He thought from what he had heard from my neighbour's that i was painting car's and running a business here from what they said ??
Officer is coming around tomorrow to have a look at my bbq etc, :lolsign:

I spoke with my neighbour across the road this arvo too, he saw the council guy knock on my door and leave a note, he then walked next door and spoke to the whinging neighbour for a couple of minute's.
When i spoke with the officer he also mentioned i had been revving my bike and revving my car
I let him know that yes i had revved my car the previous weekend as i had trouble with the carby flooding,
i'd adjust the float height then start it up and then it'd stall, so needed a bit of throttle to start it the next time, i did that 4 time's then realised that the o ring on the needle and seat was leaking, so replaced it and set the float level again then it was fixed.
Bike revving ? not sure when i tuned that last though, maybe oct/nov last year ??

I've waited at home all day for the council officer to call in but he hasn't
I just gave him a ring and he said that he was going to call by next time he goes past so might not be for a few days or a week.
He said due to what i told him he hasn't put it on a high priority list

Here's an option, next time you do anything potentially inflammatory, which is virtually anything, just video the whole process with your phone or digital camera.

Wait for the inevitable complaint, then show the council officer the video or upload it to youtube and make it private, providing login details only to the council offer - there will be no discrepancy between accounts of the matter as the video will be incontrovertible proof.

Wait for their adjudication, if they find in your favour which is extremely likely, inform them you will file against the neighbour for being a vexatious complainant if their behaviour persists. That message delivered by the council officer should carry substantial weight.

doesn't sound like the council officer is to worried and may have the real picture, as rukusman says , have some real proof in case you get another council worker or if it ever goes to court , keep your self covered. sorry to say but looks like you have a real prob ,and one that's not going to go away , ever seen that tv show bad niebours or some such thing , its in the states and england and shows what things can escalate to, so don't let the idiot get in your head, nutters love that and it makes their day to get a reaction

I used to deal with complaints (traffic, not local law or whatever this falls under) and the easiest way is to simply let the guy go nuts. They will stop listening to him eventually. I'm guessing the dude is old and probably home a lot. Little things seem to set off old people. Keep some documentation of what you do as the Council will have to prove you are doing what he claims. He is unlikely to keep evidence, especially when overstating the claims which works in your favour. Of course, there's to sides to the story but if you're being neighbourly you have nothing to worry about. If your other neighbours have no issues the dude will just be classed as a vexatious complainer and possibly put on a special list (yep, really).

I have had another visit from my neighbour this afternoon.
Today he is complaining because i am buffing/polishing my brother inlaw's car
And the day before yesterday i started a lawnmower and revved it, i had just replaced the pull start cord on my mate's mower and was checking it worked ok.

Apparently he has taken photo's over the fence and took them to the council to show them what i am doing,
and that the council has told him that what i'm doing is illegal, and that they will come around and shut me down ?
Also apparently i was working outside next to his fence all day every day last week too?
i can only remember polishing my FZR back wheel for maybe 2 hour's on wednesday, and i cut 2 rusty bolt's off a piece of steel with an angle grinder on tuesday that would have been 5 minute's at the most
Yesterday i spent 1.5 hour's bead blasting a Holley carby in my shed so my compressor was running for a while, the vacuum i use to suck the dust out the cabinet at the same time is almost as loud as the compressor
I haven't been keeping a log as i thought it was all forgotten since the council inspector never came around to see me.

I'll have to go down to the council on monday and see what photo's they have and find out what i've been doing that is illegal, and i'm interested to find out what they are going to shut down too ?

What he is doing is illegal. He's taken photos over your fence without your permission. Thats invasion of privacy.
