Did some work this morning on the cbr, the chain and sprockets were replaced with new ones ,And I swapped out the rear tyre with a spare that I had in the shed. Almost ready Ran out of time
got the engine out of the cb350k4 and removed head. valve stem broke just below collets. result- broken valve stem, bent into a long s shape, bottom of guide broken, piston marked, carby diaphram torn.yet to check bore.minimum needed is valve and guide with collets and new piston.thinking of max overbore and new valve spreings as well- and arranged to buy a vfr800.
Pulled the IT200 out the shed today, last time i had it running was almost 2 year's ago now. It was dripping spoodge out the front of the head last time i had it started so i took the fuel bowl off today and dropped the pilot jet back to a 55, it had been running a 60. Mixed a a litre iof 32/1 and gave it a kick, it fired and idled first go I'm going out riding next weekend with friend's, with my IT, XT and a couple of pit bike's, my lad is taking his KTM50 and PW60 too, should be a lot of fun !
Installed fuel filter, new grips and fitted the āVā shaped part that joins the lower cowlings. Oiled the clutch cable and greased the chain. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
See what size needle jet it has. David's had a Q0 which was too big. Dropped it to P6 and it is much more responsive.
Yeah thank's @mboddy , will do, the P6 needle sound's familiar It was pretty much standard when i bought it year's ago, had done under 10,000km's since new, only aftermarket part was a HPF silencer Had low compression, the piston and cylinder were both worn, i went 2nd o/s on the bore and fitted a new Wossner piston and ring's. I replaced the air filter with a UniFilter, the steel reed 's were slightly warped so i used some Carbon Fibre replacement's. My machinst suggested i should up the jetting whilst running it in, so i went with a 60 pilot and a 340 main jet. Close on the end of the second tank it locked up on me slowing for a sharp corner, started again easy so i took it back to the workshop and found the spark plug had been running lean still, so upped the main jet to a 350 I have a Lectron 34mm here too for it, but just need a needle to suit the 200
My IT200 has a 36mm Lectron Powerjet carby. I works much better than the original Mikuni. What size rod (needle) do you need? My guess would be 6-1. Is your Lectron a Powerjet?
@mboddy , I just got the Lectron carb out, it's actually a 36mm, but it's a non PowerJet I was trying to buy a couple of 34mm Lectron's from a guy ion South Africa a few year's ago so must have got confused On this carb, one of the float pin tower's had been broken off and welded back on crooked at some stage and look's a little daggy, but it should work still, the float tang's are bent to make them rise evenly, i have a spare fuel bowl for it as well. The Lectron came without a needle, i was told i can ring Ballistic Performance Parts in Melbourne and they should be able to help me out and advise what needle to run and give me a rough base line setting for the needle height etc Think i need to get the needle adjuster too but am not sure ? 36mm excellent! That will be perfect. The boss for the powerjet is there so you can drill and tap it to fit the powerjet. I have done that. Epoxy a small tube into the float bowl to feed it. The needle adjuster is still in the slide but it is for the old type needles. The grub screw for it may be missing. I'll have a look at what rod (needle) I am using. I am using the DG pipe.
I have a Mikuni Power Jet kit here that i could probably use, was thinking about fitting it to the VM34SS Then again it may end up too tall Would i need a different needle to you if i don't run a power jet ? The Mikuni kit you just use a main jet 10% - 20% smaller than the original depending on which jet you run in the PJ nozzle I should have a grub screw here
Work had a 2002 VFR800i traded in that had over $2500 of work done on it inc new stator, wiring repairs and a major service. A bit cosmetically challenged but otherwise in good nick, has bar risers, heated grips and givi top box included. Only had 2 owners, 64,000km and has all service history. Salesman was going to flog it to wholesalers as it isn't pretty, but asked if anyone in workshop wanted it, price was $1500 with nearly a full years rego. A true bargain, so risky and I have snagged it. Will see it on the November ride. No pics as I had to get back to work but will see if I can find some.

You will need a rod (needle) with a larger 1st number if you don't run a power jet. Lectrons originally used Mikuni VM22-210 pilot jets as power jets. I have seen a few Lectrons with Mikuni power jet kit fitted. I would just drill and tap the boss on the Lectron and fit a Lectron adjustable power jet as I have done in the past. But the Mikuni kit will work fine and you already have it. You will have to machine (or file) the boss off so it mount low enough. Or mount it at an angle. The choice of whether to power jet or not is do you want to hold the throttle on full for a while. You can get the full on more accurate with a power jet and you can snap the throttle on harder at lower revs. But you can try without the power jet first to see how you like it. Get a 6-2 rod and do a full throttle plug chop to make sure it is not too lean. Or power jet it with a 5-2 rod.
Not exactly on the bike but I have purchased some more items for the SRX... again from Japan but using a different service than Jauce this time... just to see what the differences are.. I am using ZenMarket and so far it is a much nicer (easier to read and navigate) screen and it shows the prices in A$ so it gives you a ready rekoner... Fees are slightly less than Jauce... so it will be interesting... you are also able to time Sniper bids... something you cant do on Jauce.. you still end up with the Local freight charges and 8% tax etc but that is just part of buying from Japan....
Today I looked at my race bikes looking neglected having not moved for the last 6 months....then I looked at the new projects that were in the shed. Then I thought about the renovations at home that were underway and decided to have a few glasses of red. Therefore not much was achieved.....
Not sure you can say it is what I have done to my bike, more like what I made everyone else do... Yesterday I was looking at Gumtree and were going to post on this site, but I saw a marauder 250 for $400, not running. So I said I'd buy it, pay and have it collected today. There's a whole other story about the bloke I bought it from, he had a bad week, poor guy. So, the bike is some 600km away and not running; how do I collect it. I hit up a couple of transport options, including local bike shop for a pick and store until I collect it. At a cost more than I wanted to pay (beggars can't be choosers, not that dear, I'm just a cheapskate) I arranged with Apex towing to pick it up. But he was worried he would be too late, so he arranged another guy (R.J. motorcycle towing support and services, I believe it is) for the same price only earlier. Meanwhile, I twisted @Phil arm to have it delivered to MotoREcycle - many thanks to Phil and @kiffsta (Chris doesn't know he's helping me, yet..). Now to work out what to do with thing. Another bike I shouldn't have bought.
