    Hi Team,

Went along to a Shannon's Auction last night (22 Feb 2016) in Melbourne. Had eyes for a "No Reserve" Jawa and wanted to see what a good condition 1965 Daimler 2.5 V8 Saloon went for.

    The Jawa went for $7,500 and the Daimler went for $9,500 (I couldn't effing believe it...I didn't register so I couldn't bid...idiot!)

Anyway, since the Jawa is a 2fiftycc bike, I thought I'd post some details about this one. Enjoy

    Frank

Very tidy Jawa, but not for $7,500.

If I really had to have one I would buy a new Chinese copy for $3,500 delivered.

I agree, far too much. I was peed off because of how much the Daimler went for, not the Jawa. They had the Jawa price range starting at $5,000 and it was "No Reserve", which sucked me in for a look. The bidding for the Jawa started at $2,000 and they took forever to get people going on it. I was surprised it went for that much. The Daimler was in real good nick...drive away no more to pay!

Do you have a link or website for said Chinese Jawa copy?

A Jawa! I remember when you couldn't give those things away.

LOL. True. The year it was made corresponds with a significant year in my wife's life (the beginning of it!), so I've been looking for a 1959 something that she can ride occasionally. My wife thought the Jawa was "pretty" and in good condition.

Wow, you have to give it to those Chinese...they're like human versions of a cross between a photocopy machine and a 3D printer! I doubt anyone is importing these into Australia...are they? I don't want one, but it's a curious thing to make a copy of...maybe they bought the patent for it?

Jawa used to be an extremly popular and common bike on this part of Earth where I reside. They had a reputation of being really fast and really unreliable. The 350cc versions were.more common, although the 250 was supposed to be faster, so I'm told.
Another 250cc that used to be common here was the Pannonia (made in Hungary).

Be great if they made a JAWA clone. Those old Jawas look great!

At my local mall they have currently a small Jawa exhibition, so I made some pics with my phone.

Thanks Johnny, they look to be in great condition.
