Hey All ventured down to the local Suzuki Dealership today in anticipation of perhaps seeing the new 250cc model TU250X. Asked the sales chap about it and I got a very strange look, what the hell was I talking about. Obviously I was speaking crap, he knew nothing about it. Eventually he checked with his superiors and informed me that he had forgotten about it but they did not think they would be big sellers, no plan to bring one in to the store. Oh well, I tried Phil
It's amazing how things change. The dealers in the outer eastern part of Melbourne now love these bikes and say that they can never keep them on the floor for any length of time.
Well pleased to hear that, yes things do certainly change. Mind you it was a couple of years back from memory. Hope your daughter has a good run with it, would like to get her impression as I don't think we've had anyone purchase one on the forum so far. Enjoy the ride.
I've not forgotten this little retro and recently got the urge to test ride one. Called up a couple of local Suzuki dealers and neither had it on the floor. Might be they're waiting for 2017 stock but I suspect it just doesn't sell all that well. Still bugging me, as it did back at the start of the year when I looked into them, is the lack of power. I just can't see it keeping my interest for longer than a couple of months.
One of our club members has one of these little machines, she bought it new not too long ago. It's pretty retro looking and what looks to be a cruisy ride. Not the fastest machine but will do the job for a beginner or someone who is looking for an easy going commuter.
It looks like a comfortable and useful bike. What I don't understand is the 2-valve 250cc engine. With the Yamaha SR400 an option, why not a TU400X ? Still bugs me that Canada never got the SR400 (or the 4 cylinder 250's, or the f.I. VTR250).
The RiderSafe training centre's use the TU250X here in Adelaide, They had about 4 or 5 of them (2014 model's) when i did my learner's licence practical test last year. I didn't like the way they felt when riding, so opted for the Yamaha 2014 XT250, and used the same bike for my Advanced course too I don't see many of the TU250X's on the road here, but do see a lot of DRZ400's
