Just an observation, but it appears that there are much less listings on eBay, I have some saved searches that I use regularly and some used to always yield 100+ results, now its less than 30.

I'm thinking its eBay's new excessive fee structure, could be wrong, what do you think ?

the other killer was paypal with its commission. between the 2 plus chinese clones it was not worth it. still have plenty of new starters and when the exchange rate drops will sell.not worth a sale to make $5.

So it begins on Gumtree, if you post an add on Gumtree and want to update 12 hours after posting, you have to pay a $2.49 edit fee, your ad go to the top of the list again, but its the insinuation that you have to pay.. GGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Paypal have now put my fees up to 5%. (4.99 or some such). A competitor will pop up soon. Probably a Chinese one.
Speaking of shipping. Partzilla will charge me $44, to ship a few o-rings to Thailand. Then USPS ship it to Canada, or Japan, and I get it 9 weeks later.
Some sort of geography test for postal sorters would be a good idea.
Q1/ On which continent can France be found?
    That sort of thing.

I think with "online shopping" being the norm these days its inevitable fees and such will rise.

ebay was originally somewhere to sell off some personal unwanted stuff by auction ..... now half most of it is businesses peddling their wares.

I tried signing up for ebay, but I did it on my Apple. Part way through the process and they sent an ActiveX control to me. This will not work on an apple of course. I finished setting up the ebay account and 20 minutes later received a notice that the account was closed because I was "Abusing EBay". It was not a very polite email, in fact it was downright insulting. After a lot of wasted time, I discovered it was all to do with their poxy "windows only" activeX/dll thingy. Then I did a bit of searching about "abusing ebay". My God, there are a zillion sellers online who have been shut down by ebay for trivial and sometimes blatant scamming by buyers. That was it for me. I don't believe any professional business can be beholden to such an organization. I will just stick with building up a reputation and rely on referrals rather than being shafted by someone else.
