So... after lots of investigations it appears that the FZR600 Front forks have the correct 100mm caliper spacing needed for the Gold Spot calipers and also have 38mm upper tubes plus the same 15mm front axle. If I get these front forks I wont need to have adapters made so there is a potential saving there and they will look more Factory than having adapters. The only other change I might need to make would be using FZR600 discs.. as they are 300mm diameter as opposed to 282mm. I can easily add them after I get the forks if they are needed. Time will tell I guess...

Hang on , I've been on the bike and its been moved from its normal parking spot , does that count. The carpeted floor wasn't warm enough , so the bike is up on the stand where the lambs wool blanket is . Plus , I've been just to busy helping my fellow forum member out , so double .
While looking at pics of the FZR600 front forks I have coming I noticed there appear to be some adjustment screws at the base of forks. I haven’t found anything about these being adjustable. Might need to investigate a bit more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Looks like something from the casting as the slot is raised, not recessed like a screw head, although I must admit it's a bit of a brain teaser - you can see both when your brain switched between them
My FZR front forks arrived on Saturday....so I stripped off the FZR250 forks and slotted the new ones in to make some comparisons. Brakes bolt up to the forks.. interestingly the spacing between the forks (for the wheel mount) are slightly different to the FZR250 so that will need a change to the spacers.. no big deal. The brake discs will need to be changed to FZR400 / 600 items as the current setup loses about 30% of effective pad area due to the smaller FZR250 disc (282mm vs 300mm). It is a bit hard to tell from the pictures but the bottom of the pad is above the lower ventilation holes on the FZR250 disc and the top of the disc is about 10 mm down from the top of the pad. I figure I am doing all this work, I may as well make sure I do it properly. No point having a poorly done Money Pit. Managed to score a good set of FZR400RR discs on fleaBay at the price of 1 aftermarket wave disc so that will make the setup almost complete... all that is needed are some new wheel spacers and some caliper spacers to set the right position. The FZR400 / 600 disc has an extra 1mm dish compared to the 250 but I will take the complete front end down to my Machinist and let him set all the distances rater then me measure them and cock them up. The FZR600 forks are a bit longer than the FZR250 items so I will need to look at that and see how it affects the rake, which will affect the trail.. might not be a big issue but easy enough to resolve.
The forks on my bike are made from combining bits from 3 different model forks. Also modified with cartridge emulators, highly recommended. If you get all the fork bits on the bench you may be able to combine bits that simply bolt together and everything is in the right place and works. Playing with springs and spacers is well worth the trouble to get the sag values correct. The damper rods are pretty basic. I found the emulators were an improvement but the rear end was lifting braking for corners. 1 turn on the emulator adjusters stopped that.
I have considered trying to combine the FZR250 uppers with the FZR600 lowers to get back to the right fork length ....BUT.. the set of 250 forks I have are newly rebuilt and to be honest... I dont really want to pull them apart only to find it wont work. I originally had a set of Zeal fork tubes that we thought would fit in the 250 forks (Originals were quite bent) but the cylinder, spindle taper and fork tube were entirely different.. and the zeal items didnt seat all the way in the FZR lowers.. when inspected the machining was different. Now when I look at the FZR600 vs 250 fork parts there is definitely a difference.. the rebound spring isnt shown separately on the 600 and it may not even have one...Apart from that.. if I leave them as standard and eventually sell the bike (for a huge loss), no @2valve it isnt going to live in Glen Innes, I would prefer all items to be as Factory (even if from different models) as possible to aid in keeping it on the road.
Don't worry buddy , I'm taking notes on what parts your using on my bike. So WHEN THE bike gets delivered to my place I'll know what's fitted for future .
@maelstrom you got some rivets for brake discs didn't you? Perhaps he could combine the 250 disc aluminium inners with the 400/600 disc steel outers if all else is the same and that gives the desired offset - anything is possible
Actually the slightly bigger offset for the FZR600 discs works for me... well it should. I will hopefully know later on today as the discs are on for delivery today. so I can mock it all up and see where it all sits. The 600 discs are 10.5mm offset where the 250 are 9.5mm.
