No real update as it's been so cold and wet - need a better workshop But here's a shot of the weird hole in the downtube???
From the shape of the hole and the edges of it, perhaps a previous owner had a bracket to support a fairing and/or guages welded on there in the past?
I know the part you mean, its definately there oh Phil's X7, but nothing is bolted into it, what I find was that someone used it as a mount point for crash barsĀ  The red 7 is from http://classic-motorbikes.net/restorations/
Bought a piston pin remover from ebay and have removed the pistons. Other than that Ls are booked for the 9th
And now passed licence test Time to throw away the L plates. Not much happening on the project at the moment, new rear suspension has arrived though. Will be chatting to some people about an engine build soon as well. Will be riding the hyo in the mean time
Shocks have arrived from Japan - nothing special I know, but apparently go alright when refilled and regassed
Hi Phil bob from tamworth ,x7 lover and owner . Just need a few parts to finish and was hopeing some one might be able to point me in the right direction . Im after a brake master cylinder ,the rectangle type ,a headlight glass and a rear sprocket ,.then shes finished. Thanks Bob @Phil
Hi Bob Well done mate, all my parts are at my sons home in Brisbane currently. Will touch base with him and have him check the crate of parts for the X7. I can tell you that I can't help you with the master cylinder as my is round and have issues with it. I have the front head light casing (plastic ) but not sure about the glass???...............What I would do seeing you are in Tamworth is contact Murdo on the forum, he is involved with the vjmc and these people are great at sourcing parts, worth a try. Bob from ace of sprays did my bike in the red, his work is very good. Will be in touch mate.
Hi Bob Contacted Bob at Ace of sprays who will contact you soon. Thinking about the x7 reminded me of some good contacts I had some years back www.suzuki-gt.co.uk is well worth a look as is ebay uk as parts are readily available. Here in Australia I struggled a little. I also used findapart. with some success. Good luck mate, will be in touch.
Ah long time no update, and still nothing to add. Have spent the last 12 months work on getting my tiny workshop setup so I can actually do some work on the project. Looking at ebay now for parts I've realised it's been so long that I can't remember what I've already got. Playing with my hyosung has shown that a bent over riding position is really bad for my already dodgy back, so I might be going a tracker style instead of cafe, but that's all still up in the air until I can get back onto the project
Hi crispy bob from tamworth here ,you have a big job ahead on the x7 ,im just doing a clean up on mine and had to find a brake master cylinder ,the rectangle type for mine which wasn't easy but now I know where to find them and also the headlight glass was a real problem but that's solved also if you need help with those just mention it .I found that the tanks are a very thin metal so with mine I just used a relining kit . good luck will be good to watch your progress
