Hi Guys, Bike has been running great. Now won't start, engine doesn't crank over at all. When the ignition switch is turned on,all indicators on dash operate as normal. Park lights, dash lights, indicators, brake lights all working fine. Press start button...nothing. Rechecked kill switch. Tried turning ignition on and off a few times, checked side stand up, tried in neutral and with clutch in....nothing. Bike still within 2 year factory warranty. Any ideas? I haven't got a multimeter but sounds like a good excuse to get one.....initial thoughts are to remove the battery and check voltage (however wont be under load) May at least see what condition the battery may be in? Apart from that maybe book into dealer, push start it, hope I can get it started , and drop it off to the dealer. Wondering whether it might be dead a starter? Assuming if it's the starter or dead battery both be covered by warranty? Maybe only the starter if it's that. Any ideas anyone on what process I should follow before ringing the dealer?
Dont work on it if its under warranty .... it will void the warranty ..... ring the dealer and get them to deal with it You could just stick the multimeter on the terminals without removing it or anything , just to give yourself an idea if its just gone flat ..... but its up to the warranty to fix any problems
Do you get a click from the starter solenoid when pressing the starter button? As grey said though, it's under warranty, get a Kawasaki dealer to fix it.
Yeah Linkin....getting a click. Good advice guys....will just get the dealer to repair. The bikes at my house....will it be up to me to get it to them or should they come and collect it?
They should collect it .... Im not familar with current warranty conditions but I would think its part of it also My fizzer was picked up for its first pink slip rego check as it wasnt running well enough to ride it so the bike shop just came with their van and took it, then dropped it back after inspection .... cost me extra of course ..... but warranty should cover it all If u tell them its just 'clicking' at startup they may just come with a new battery ... ?
Its under warranty .... as soon as they have found you have tried to fix it they wont want to know you in the future
Sounds like the battery to me. Try to roll start it (3rd gear, get as much speed as you can). If it fires up I'd say that's what it is. But yes, get the dealer to "deal" with it. Hopefully the battery has a 24 month warranty (I think they're usually 1 year, but it's still strange for it to be buggered if under 2 years old so could indicate another charging issue or something)
Hey guys. Got the bike running.(hadn't rung the dealer yet) I am wondering if had something to do with the positive neutral finder? I pushed the bike forwards and backwards a few times and shifted down to first and back into neutral a few times. It seems to have solved it for now. I'm not sure if the green neutral light had came on but it was a tiny bit out out of neutral? Anyway it's going. Will keep you posted.
That can happen. Bike can be in neutral but no light on the dash and it may refuse to start depending on what safety circuits are in place.
