    So are those readings from just hooking it up and running or have u actually adjusted the sync screws ?

    Just running it, adjusting 3rd made little to almost no difference.

    The tool only takes a reading when running, if you check out the link earlier in the post you’ll see it’s specs

    You were adjusting the 3x sync screw's from underneath, or at least the r/h one ? (between carb's 3 and 4)

    Which screw were u adjusting to try and bring the #3 carb into sync?

    #2 is your base carb , so the screw between carb 2 and 3 is the one u move to get carb 3 into sync ( to match carb 2) .... then when 3 matches/or is close to 2 , u match 4 to 3 with the screw thats between carb 4 and 3

    And for those playing at home .... carb #1 is on the left when sitting on the bike
    ... and the actual numbers mean nothing ... they just all need to be about the same,
    and every time u adjust a screw u should blip the throttle and let the idle settle

    Started the bike this morning... started in less than a second and had this really nice bass tone to it.. I lifted the fuel lid only to find that the short filter on the petcock had slipped out of place. Can I use some kind of adhesive to secure it? (I did empty the tank and put it back but it moved again when I started the bike)

    I can’t find any screws between the carbs, only the ones in the pic up the top and the ones recessed directly underneath [​IMG]

    Wrong side of the carbs , it should be on the side where the diaphram caps are not the the float bowl side

    They're hiding in your picture, inbetween carb's 1 and 2, 2 and 3, and 3 and 4

    @my67xr Yeah true, what threw me was 1&4 are facing the engine and 3 is facing the air box at a 45 degree angle making it impossible to get to without removing the air box and turning the tank sideways (because I don’t have a fuel feeder or hose to make one).

    I don't understand what you mean.
    All the throttle synchronisation screws face in the same direction as per the image that @my67xr sent.

    Pulled the carbs to give you all a better look at what I’m working with/on. Different setup to the fzr.

    Anne, those carbs don't look right. Take a picture from the engine side of the carbs and post it please. Like the picture below.

    If the carbs are configured properly, then you may have to balance 2 and 3 and then 1 to 2 and 4 to 3 depending on how easy it is to get to the middle adjustment screw. Your idle might fluctuate while you're doing that, but you can adjust that as you go. Personally, I would try bench balancing the carbs first. There must be a special Yamaha tool for balancing the carbs. I can't imagine it would be too easy to get to all three of those adjustment screws with the engine running.
