Ok folks, Today (as might have been mentioned earlier) I put a deposit down on a brand new daelim vjf250... Now I'm aware that the engine will need some breaking in process... anything with moving metal parts does (Helped a mate with his rifles a few months back... Lots of fun AFTER you finish cleaning it after every shot). I am not at all familiar with how this works with bikes though! Any advice at all would be appreciated!! PS: Came across here http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm and here http://www.dansmc.com/engine_breakin.htm though I'm not seeing any of the flashy proffesionalism on their pages that'd make me trust them RIGHT off the bat without other advice.
congrats on your purchase, what colour did you get ? As for breaking them in ? NFI, I have never owned a new bike. I did lease a brand new Ford Focus XR5 turbo a in 2006, babied it during the run in process and sold it 3 years later after 90000 kms, I then bought a new one in 1009.. and drove it like I stole it :occasion14: worked for me either way Have a chat with your dealer... the manual is in the downloads section and should have some "recomended" run in instructions.
In the end I went for black... White on my road would stay white for all of... Oh I'd say maybe 37.23 seconds? And I ride with black/blue leveathers so figure go the neutral... Did you read the review I posted on the daelim section? I know you've been interested in what they run like
Hey Artemis Black is beautiful, I never tire of looking at my Blackbird, she too is black and looks great. Your dealer I'm certain will give you the low down on what rev range and speed to maintain whilst running the bike in. Mind you your right hand will some how take over, it's kinda natural. Have fun. :occasion14: Phil
just remember you are breaking the gearbox in too so lots of gear changes dont just flick thro the box and leave it in top saying that all the bikes i had new iv always only done 100 or so miles to bed it in then nailed them everywhere strangest thing was 2 zx9r,s i bought new one i broke in as they advised and one i thrashed the nuts off that latter was faster and put out more rear wheel horsepower and a mate still owns it now never need anything at all the one broke in as advised was as flat as a witch,s tit till it was tuned keep it serviced with good oil
well the 'hard breaking' method has some discussion around the e-traps I've found... but I figure i'm going to cut the middle ground and ride it... not GENTLY, but more or less within the manual specs... more or less is 'cause I DO have to get it home from melbourne (which means the highway no matter how you cut it) and because I'm going to change the oil in the first 200km and then oil and filter at 1000 (going on the idea that the major chunky bits will come out in the 200km change...comments?) Thanks for the point on the gearbox, too
