Hey hiya. Have not owned or ridden a 250 for over 40 years !.... But here I am on a 250 forum . I was visiting an aged widow who’s husband was a 90 year old bike nut to buy their Triumph Thunderbird 1958 vintage as a retirement project. On their porch, was a CBR 250 RR mounted on a stand he loved to look at, and one day have the engine cut and sectioned, so he could have that mounted also. I loved the bike and the sentiment so much I bought it... Not run for over 6 years....So my journey begins in getting running a bike type I have coveted for years and years. Love the thought of getting it going, seeing 19000 rpm, then letting a learner see 19000 rpm too. I hope my passion runs, like his, to having a bike on my porch at 90 to look at.
Welcome, enjoy the journey. They are not that hard to work on, just fiddly small bits so take your time and be rewarded when it fires up.
Thanks guys. So, one month in and some interesting problems. Electrics completely shot, Carbs needed full strip, rebuild and sync, cooling system blocked solid, brakes seized solid and fluid like soup, starter circuit fried and a bit more. Have since discovered bike was imported 2006 and never rego’d. First start up was very rewarding moment. Sick of the sight of a multi meter...
