Lots more checking.. it now seems that the difference between the SRX4 / 6 and the FZR250 fork pitch is 10mm. Not that it makes a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things. The Front axle is the same diameter (same wheel bearings), no doubt the hub on the SRX wheel is wider but that is easy to resolve. I will need a new front axle as at 5mm it may have been possible to use the original FZR item but 10mm is too much and I have sourced the correct item and it is exactly 10mm longer than the FZR250. Going this way may hold up the front end a little.. but I have other work I can get on with while I wait for some stuff to come from Japan.
While looking to clean up my wheels prior to getting new bearings tires etc and managed to get one front discs off without too much issue and got all Bar 1 bolt out of the other side. My 1/2” rattle gun with fully charged 5 amp / hr battery wouldn’t budge it. So got my little gas torch out and heated it, let it cool and heated it again to try and break the gallon of loctite but no joy. The only thing that let go was Allen key spinning in the bolt. So looks like a drill it out job. I have LH drills coming but I don’t know if they will work on this. It will probably be a drill and tap job, possibly helicoil. I will have to see what it looks like when the disc comes off. I need to get a 2nd stage tap anyway to clean out all the left over loctite in the good holes. And here I was thinking the rims were going to be relatively easy as they look to be in good condition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I am also trying to get reasonable tyres for the SRX. Given it isn’t in the same performance league as the FZR what would be General consensus on tyre brand / pattern? Sizes are 90/80-17 front and 100/80-17 rear. I am running FZR250 3 LN rims and I think the rear is 1/2” wider than the std SRX250 3WP. Is something like a Battleaxe better than Sport Demon? Sport demons are cross ply and rather stiff. I would suggest a radial tyre. Michelin pilot street radicals are good, I had a set on my zeal.
Hmm the Street Pilots are no doubt good but a bit expensive as well.. I wont be keeping this bike once its finished.. well not for long so a super comfy tyres isnt high on the priority list.. Has anyone used the Pirelli CiTy Angels? They are well priced over Sport Demons..

Hmmm New Disc bolts are rather expensive.. Seriously.. $77 for 15 Titanium bolts.. problem is SS are even dearer.. Are these damned things anything special other than being M8 x 25mm 1.25mm pitch dome head capscrews?

Did a little bit today as I wanted to get the other disc off so I can sort out that stuck bolt and figure out what I am doing with the color. I also slotted the reassembled FZR monoshock in and mounted the rear master cylinder. I need to get a couple of dome head bolts for the rear master cylinder and have the other half paint the Brembo name and logo onto it in white. Hopefully my SR6 stem and lower bridge will turn up tomorrow so I can move on with the front end. I also ordered these from the UK. In the end they were all within A$4.00 of each other.
