Have you given any thought to investing in a small compressor very handy to have around. Not to late to drop Santa a line. It is the season for giving ???? Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
I don't know about Vic, but in SA most of our service station's have digital controlled air tyre inflator's now. You can't even pump up a push bike tyre or sack truck tyre with them I'd try to wash it out with some petrol/kero or similar, blowing it out will make the bit's fly around and end up in the gear's etc
Yes that's what I was afraid of. Yes I've tried everything but there still seems to be bits "sticking" around which has me concerned. I'll pour another lot of diesel through see if it gets some of the last bits.
Try strong soapy water (I use CT18) and a garden hose. Then do the diesel to stop any rusting. And yes, get yourself one of those little cheap 24Lt compressors from Bunnings/supercheap to make your life easier.
I could throw the pressure washer on it... would that risk damaging any seals etc? I haven't split the case so I don't exactly know what's under there.
Not a pressure washer as it would just spread any crap still in there. Use the soap and mild pressure of the garden hose.
i still consider a rinse out with petrol would be my move to dissolve sludge and while deisel would be milder the petrol would be more effective.
I just have trouble with little grains of sand that "stick" to the inside of the casing in awkward positions. I can spray them, pour stuff on them but unless I physically brush them off they aren't easily dislodged. That concerns me being so close to the bottom bearings.
Get yourself a Hills Industrial (Viton seals) 2 litre pressure pump spray... the nozzle is adjustable so you can have it almost a direct jet or a fine spray... I would use white spirits or Kero that doesn't leave things oily... allows you to blast stuff out (relatively speaking).
Anyone know offhand how many full links are meant to be on the cam chain? I want to double check the new one is the right length...
I don't have the packaging anymore... just the chain. It's been sitting there a few months but is usable.
