I just saw it on eBay and thought "it's amazing what you can buy on this site!". The seller says he doesn't know much about it, but it is taking up room in his shed...WTF? Why is it in your shed in the first place? I'm surprised he didn't try the old "barn find" routine with "it used to run fine" or "it has a flat battery" trick.

So its back up for sale again.. this guy apparently cant decide if he wants to keep this bike or sell it. The guy who built it is the one who is machining my engine cases.. this thing won a price at Throttle Roll a few years ago..
It has the FZR front end and rear end although he has a problem with the chain rubbing on the swing arm.... it is an issue when you use the FZR swing arm. That is why I am not using one
I researched this damned bike for ages before deciding on the path I wanted to go with my SRX.

 

The swingarm pivot bolt at the front need's to be lowered by 25mm or so, that might give the chain more room on top of the swingarm.
It would cause the rear suspension/seat height to drop a bit though, so the top shock mount would need relocating to keep the linkage geometry right.
And i'm guessing the swingarm bolt also double's as a rear engine mount bolt so it might need the front engine mount plate to be adjusted to suit the new engine angle too.

Are you sure @risky? I don't need or want the engine, but the front forks and that rear wheel I can use. I'll see if @Murdo wants the engine?

No need for any of that if you use the correct swing arm.
The builder of the bike never had a problem with it. The current owner is the one having issues and I believe he has had a polyurethane slider specially made to resolve the issue. All it used to do was chew the FZR rubber one to bits if you had the chain too tight.
I won’t have an issue as mine is from the SRX 250 3WP and had the same rear disc and wheel from FZR but with a steel swing arm. No geometry change needed.
Swing arm bolt is only for the swing arm, engine mounts are separate.
Also if you go putting bulky rollers above and below the chain it ruins the “Cafe Racer” minimalist aesthetics and you can’t have that. Plus it wouldn’t have helped as you couldn’t get them far enough forward to make any difference. Particularly on the top.

Anyway, back on topic, apart from that it is a nice bike and is also a 250 with 350 barrel and head.
