Rode it - Took the XSR900 to work, short spurt to a local burger joint for lunch with a mate from work.

got bandit number 4 up and running, idles beautifully but a bit boggy on the revs.
re-routed the wiring, hoses and cables according to the manual.
replaced bitza indicators with Chinese genuine looking ones.
took off the cruddy handle bars and risers ready for aftermarket genuine looking ones.
inspected plastics for cracks and splits, replaced with good ones.
checked all three cdi's to see if they are good to use.
replaced bitza bolts and nuts with genuine or metric ones.
    inspected engine for gasket leeks.
drank rum and soda water during the whole process:D.

Pulled engine from the "race" YSR. engine, carb, exhaust, and plastics are sooooooooold. Now I have the inspiration to pull the Team Calamari bits off of it, clean them up, and post them for sale, as well as the rest of whats left of the bike. It's not going to gain me much room breaking it down, but every little bit counts at this stage.

removed the head with some drunken brute force.
sponsored by woodstock 10% cans...... the encouragement you need to say "stuff it" and give it a craic to get it done.:drinks:

Another mower tire and the motor is out of the gj77a.
This model has an extra peice in the frame for the side stand.... Makes it a bugger to get the motor out.
Head off to go to Trinidad with brake bracket and foot peg.
Ordered a set of chrome handle bars from NZ.

    Another event sponsored by Woodstock.

Swapped a coil as I was too drunk to trim the ones on it and got spark and hot headers as a result.
Waiting on the new handle bars to be delivered so I can double check the choke sits properly for cold starts. IMG_20230320_135247_827.jpg

Debating on stripping paint, refurbishing old or buy brand new radiator sides to brighten up from the blackness.

Not actually bike, but small cc internal combustion engine related - Have had trouble starting my IC firefighting pump lately (use it to transfer water from large rainwater storage tank to the house supply tank).

Same again this morning - heaps of choke, start ya bastard etc etc. Thinking its time for some diagnosis tonight. Noticed a funny color in the exhaust pipe - a wasp had built a nest in there. Cleared it out and started straight away. Winner

G’day everyone - I’ve been mia for a year or so as I sold my fzr250s. For a grand profit here in nz I might add, they’re sort after in good condition running well and road legal.

Anyway, if you’re still ready I’m in need of help - I stopped posting on 2fifty as I no longer own any 250s, however, I have a ‘95 Yamaha XJR400R and there is absolutely no help online. Well, I’ve downloaded the service manual which is Japanese ‍♂️
So if you don’t mind I’m having a few problems - compression 145 - 150 on all 4. Carbs synced as I have the tools on hand($125nz)
Runs well under any throttle up to around 7.5k rpm at which point it misfires/stumbles. I can rev it higher with part throttle but more load = no revving.
I’ve been through the carbs extensively and I’m satisfied they’re not to blame.
Can anyone help diagnose my problem? Is the CDI ignition maybe the issue or bad coils?
Any help will be much appreciated

Exhaust clear? What about the air cleaner element? Take it out and see how it runs as have seen a bad filter do similar.
