Finally got around to starting the rebuild: off with the head, off with the sump, and as I push the pistons up I hear bits of rings raining down... Oh wait, that wasn't a bike, it was my ute.

Waiting on zxr parts, procrastinating on the marauder, not sure about the rest...

Went to look at this , no compliance plate , I soon Realised it was a cbr300 , fairings had been rattle canned and it was a stat write off, such a waste of time. I bet he bought it from the auctions and was trying to make a few bucks.

A bit of paint thinners and take those fairings back to original. More like see what is under the rattle can paint. There would have been worthwhile parts, still. Or was he wanting $1000-1500?

Been out prepping and welding on the SRX frame. Managed to drop the TIG torch and broke the nozzle ☹️
Have to wait till Monday now. Might remove the pillion foot peg brackets tomorrow, they are not used on the 3 WP as they are part of the rearsets.

I had an oopsie at work on Thursday that required a trip to emergency. Cut the fingertip of my left ring finger pretty badly, look away if you are afraid of blood.

Did not require stitches, cleaned out and held together with medical grade superglue. 6 weeks to fully heal.

The proper tool for cutting zip ties off of packing is not a big sharp knife...

I found today the hotter the ZXR250 ran, the more noticeable the hesitation was between 5000 and 7000rpm, trying to get her through the hills was a bit painful as she was coughing a spluttering , so I guess it is time for a full carb rebuild and replace all those pesky seals

Still had a blast on her.....

Mine still does it even after replacing the seals, though I have an aftermarket filter and pipe.

    What's yours fitted with?

I suspect it might actually be jetting in the Malaysian zxr's.

Sold one! The 2011 yz250f, needed work, moved it on for someone else to work on. Now I have money for my bikes! Like the Across, or zxr registration.

Might need to lift the needles. A small O-ring will probably do the trick. I'm assuming it revs out fine. The spluttering starts there and just gets worse, then main jet needs to be bigger. Or the reg-rec could be faulty and messing with things.

Have done bugger all for the best part of a year to be honest.....:(
Looking forward to winter and getting stuck into the only 250 I have left!
Definitely want it humming by Nov/Dec and hopefully racing near year....
But, will have to see what the year brings.

I went and picked up a couple of bikes. I was a bit keen on the last minute offer of the second one, didn't check some details, so it was quite what I thought, but still worth the money.

Oh man, it's been a busy few weeks. What'd i do? I rebuilt my front forks- and screwed up the wiper rings installing the new seals.

Then I loaded the bike in the back of my buddy's pickup and took it to Radwood- a carshow for 80s/90s cars... 1100 miles away.
Then I discovered it was only running on 3, and smoking like a 2-stroke.
    Then i got sad.
Then i got angry and blew all the old gas out on the highway and put fresh stuff in.
Then i did a lap or 5 of Sonoma Raceway at all the RPM.

Then I brought it home. Now i'm gonna start tearing it apart again and figuring out why it's lame and sending fuel out the tailpipe. But at least I got cool video before I tore it apart!

Its 25 minutes of a dentists drill being chased by a swarm of bees on a few parade laps of Sonoma... but there's something I love about a bike i can hoon on a parade lap and not get in trouble for.

    So yeah. Yesterday was that.

Today is "I pulled the fairings and tank off the bike.... again."
