Another late night run to get a bike, this time its a ZXR250 C, a 1991 model with 45 horses. The PO lost the key, its been in storage for a few years, he said it last ran 12 months ago and the steering lock was enabled, so lots of fun getting it on the trailer. When Phil and I got it home we managed to jimmy the rear seat, remove the rider seat and then unbolt the lock from the triple tree, I then hooked up the jumper leads, used a screw driver to move the ignition to on, and Phil hit the button, she coughed and spluttered and started running. Needs New key cut Choke cable oil change Rear tyre spit and polish Cheers
Now that's an awesome looking bike, really dig the black. Maybe my CBR250RR needs a ZXR for a stable mate haha
Hopefully, Phil has dropped the lock barrel down at the locksmith today, so I should get that back tomorrow then I can start working through the bike and get it rego'ed. Im a tad time poor ATM, need to finish the aprilia as well.
Mr Black, Nice looking bike, however with no key (lost) you caused us certain trepidation last night whilst trying to move it to the trailer. Not only was the key missing but the steering lock was engaged, fun and games trying to move it from the garage out on the street to the awaiting trailer. Once loaded it took up 2/3 of the trailer up so the second bike for collection was put on hold. She did start up after a couple of cranks so Chris and I were pretty pleased overall! This morning I took the lock to the locksmith to have a key cut, assured me would be ready this afternoon. Whilst in town got some oil so Chris can get started sorting it out. All in all a good looking bike, have a feeling it will be on the road soon. P.S. nice to be home after a week in Victoria, weather was a tad COOL!!!! Had a Blast
Hey Frankster, nah, I don't think so, but I am working on getting another one and should get a harness So, the old girl is a runner, but she sounds like the cam chain is hitting the cam cover, Im not game to rev it over 4k. It has fresh fuel and oil so Im will get the panels off the bike and inspect the Cam chain tensioner , here is a vid of her running. Cheers N Beers
whipped the cam chain tensioner out, measured the spring, all within spec, next step is to take the cam cover off and have a look at the chain
