Hi everyone, im having some issues sourcing the 3 paper gaskets for the engine (starter, clutch, timing covers)...does anyone know where these can be purchased from at a reasonable price and posted to the UK? Ill probably end up making my own, and im not too bad at autocad...and a mate of mine runs a waterjet cutting company, so i might be able to get some gaskets cut for the community. If anyone has a set of computer aided gaskets already for this bike, that would obviously be a big help and save me the trouble of making them, if not ill let you know how i get on, and im im successfull ill work out a price and sell them at cost price...gotta be better than hand cut "hexagonal" holes, or liquid gasket...
I dunno bout ya self mate but i can cut out a mean gasket. I found a hole punch is the go for bolt holes and the razor safety blades work well.
The problem with a lot of aftermarket gaskets is that they are made from cheap garbage and too thick. If you can use the same thickness and type of material as OEM then there is no reason why you cannot succeed. A scanner should be useful for the digitising process.
ive got access to a plotter/cutter at work that i think will use .dxf CAD files, hi Blair, thought i recognised your maelstrom name from zxrworld.co.uk ill be using a decent oil resistant 0.4mm gasket paper, does the job
Try a Yamaha dealer using the part numbers ..... I used a genuine gasket on the clutch cover FZX Zeal has the same motor and arnt grey imports here I didnt use a gasket on the stator cover as its open anyway. Zeal gasket
Have just noticed that I've not posted these, I'll get them up on the site soon, have still got the file kicking about I think..
Firstly, the gasket set is now in the resources area. Secondly, my zxr400 is coming along nicely, am just waiting for more funds/sell more old parts then i can get a new rear shock and it will be almost fully finished then: my zxr250 will need to wait until the 400 is finished, then i can start to accumulate parts for it and do another complete stripdown and rebuild like im doing on the 400
