F&^%ing Gasket Goo

Arrgghh, I picked up a Kawasaki ZXR250C model on the weekend, the seller was a nice guy and we had a good chat about what he did to the bike, basically he said they cleaned the carbs and it ran for a bit then it hydrolocked , he tried to buy seals and float valves for his bike from his local Kawasaki shop and they said... Yeah.. Nah ... it is an import.





So I figure, lets have a look at what's going on, I undid the float bowl screws and the bowls were on there good and solid, I was like... hmmm, some more persistence and they came away, the guys had used so much gasket goo that the float bowl was stuck to the float.



please , please , please buy a sealk it from @maelstrom aka Litetek.co do not use gasket goo

 

That'll do it.

Only place sealants should be used is where the service manual says to! EG the rubber plug on stator wiring as it comes out of the cover etc.

 

at least you had a seal there, mine was pure goo

 

ahem - some is good more must be better

 

This ingenuous person found a way to do without carby to airbox seals & screws in the one go, looks like crankcase gasket or grey maxx.

 

Mine is the same mate, I have some litetek ones in order , itching to see if this bike runs

 

Here are my air box seals , they should be reusiable right ?
