Took it out for a little quiet ride along the side of a back road where there is a well used track. Went well but two observations. 1; timing needs to be retarded a couple of degrees to soften the acceleration at low revs, 2; the carby tends to flood when bike upside down. Yes, found myself on the ground with the bike- twice.
At least I did the rational thing and protected the shiney paint by throwing my body underneath. :lolsign:
When home I dropped the timing back two degrees and it is much smoother. Got an old screwdriver and prized the mud out of the muffler bracket but not washed as plan to get it more dirty. :D

I'm impressed by your work, @Murdo. And jealous of how much you seem to get done. (Says the guy avoiding his uni assignment)

I saw this thread some time ago and it inspired my. I have an xr200 (parts of it), and an old Honda 125 motor, and a few other parts for fun. I opened the top end of the engine and put it all aside - I don't know what happened in there, but it was ugly! Guess I'll just stare in awe of your work, instead. Have fun riding.

That makes me want to exercise... Actually, I exercised yesterday, but it isn't as much fun when you pedal 25 mins uphill for 5 mins of downhill. I have a bunch of bikes here, none registered so I can't go in the forest, and my place is pretty unexciting to ride at the moment. Might cut a grass track tomorrow... Or work on the TC185...
