Greetings from the Northern Hemisphere. Having checked over my GB250 Clubman I have discovered that the right side rear bolt holding the camber cover on is offering no resistance and just spinning merrily. The bolt I have on order, no problem. I am thinking of replacing the cam holder as well, but there are two part nos. 12216KE5020 which is the item listed for my year/model but unavailable, and there is 12216KE5010 for an earlier model, which is available. When looking at the part nos. for the respective bolts, the only difference seems to be in the length. If push comes to shove then I am quite happy to drill, tap, and insert a helicoil, but would obviously prefer a new item. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

Mike, the cam holders are line bored together and replacing it with another may not line up correctly and may seize the cam. Better to helicoil the one you have.

Hi Murdo, thanks for the reply. I know that on all my other Hondas the cam runs direct in the alloy of the head, without any type of bearing materials, which is why regular oil/filter changes were so crucial. I haven't lifted the cam cover of this one yet, but to the best of my knowledge the camshafts run on ball bearings which just need clamping in place.

Even with cartridge-bearings, their alignment must be precisely located. Is it cartridge-bearings on both ends? What's used on cam-gear end?
