Yes, it was as you said so he could throw them to the worker. He could have thrown him a proximity fob instead...at least that would be closer to 21st century technology.

His leathers look more like a Black Tyvek spray paint suit.
Not sure it would offer much protection if he came off

in the july issue of classic bike there was an article on Sparton who made the silver dream racer.
the nice thing about the film is they show some real racing parts.

Wasn't it Barton Motors who built the bike? I know it was Roger Marshall who rode it but pretty sure Barton Motors built it.

Some say it was a really bad film yeah ok it could have been better particularly the ending but I don't think it was all bad one of the best things about the film was they used 'to coin a phrase from the film 'Some of the best riders known to man. On the grid that day for the filming of the final and penultimate race were Barry sheene Randy Mamola Ron Haslam Steve Parish Mick Grant and Roger Marshall to name but a few. Just watchin that race scene 'then and 'now when the music kicks in and you see the bike whip past the Redline puts the hairs up on the back of my neck every time.

like i said i get a lot of things wrong, they first used the 500 triple but changed it to a 750 'cause it wasn't fast enough, i think.
and the Sparton was a Barton engine in a Spondon frame, but don't shoot me if i'm wrong again:oops:

On reading something else there seems to be a bit of conjecture on this it's said it started out as a GT380 Triple re engineered into a 500 Triple then it seems it was swapped out for a 750cc disc valve water cooled 2 stroke motor Barton used the design of the Suzuki RG500 engine but improved on it and it was 'this that was used in the bike.

Good that Murdo put up the link to the movie. I'll have to watch it for a laugh. Didn't something go awry with his front wheel that caused the tank slapper and crash?

I don't know...it's hard to go past those Lynda Carter legs!

The "Wild One" turned into the "Wide One"! "No man is an Island", but Marlon certainly got close to those dimensions!
