Apparently the owner of this KTM 1190 had a knocking sound from the rear Cylinder at a track day at Eastern Creek
This ended up being the cause of the knocking.
    KTM1190 2.jpg

Apparently hitting a false neutral at 11,000 rpm makes conrods go all squiggly...as well as embedding valves into pistons.

    KTM1190.jpg

So a complete donor bike from the USA offered up an engine... he must have more money than sense...

A 1200cc twin with valve springs revving to 11000, I would suggest get used to it.

Haha, I think the 11000 rpm was because of the false neutral.
It’s what happens when using a quick shift and full throttle up shifts.
It is a track bike only and he has lots of money apparently.

Probably done by the same numbnut that cut out a section of the frame on the CB400 and welded on another side stand mount.

Strapping that transmission to the crank with the belt drive was clever - he was clearly inspired by John Britten

Only ride report I read said that it has serious vibrations from the engine, which is a shame - the power to weight ratio was very good

Seems that it's success on the track was much more comprehensive than I thought
