I've been helping out a guy in the Philippine's, through facebook, to try and work out if this ignition system will work on our FZR250R's and most likely on any other inline 4 cyl's The cost of this ignition system is around $150 AU https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.6.546d25e1FTFslX&id=9465817427&ns=1&abbucket=5&fbclid=IwAR2yzj_XFg_1yTi-r2nX0jAS82mohqpu8J28zrfTjXslTWW1yjYo9LwgUJk#detail Software- https://pan.baidu.com/s/1qWogICG#list/path=/ Password- d51w
@Murdo sounds like an opportunity to replace the standard TCI with a programmable unit. Plus, since @my67xr has been involved gives me confidence. I'm hoping there's an English version of the software GUI & some instructions. I'll have a look at the site when I get a chance. Thanks for posting my67xr. Do you know if this guy can "read" maps from an existing TCI unit?
I'm not sure yet, i haven't looked at the software etc and don't know if it has an english either but it could be translated easy enough, version but i know it can run the FZR coil's. It seem's to be a pretty simple circuit board My friend seem's to think it's pretty good though. I'll see if he can become a member here and post some more detail's He reckon's that the FZR's may be capable of making around 56 hp, only limit's may be the head's intake/exhaust flow and the carby's, but there's way's around those problem's too
If the cylinder head could flow that much then the only way to get access to the power is to increase the rpm, and a jump from 45 to 56 is quite substantial (400s are rated at 60hp). My guess is that peak torque would probably have to be at 16000 or more. To get the cams and intake/exhaust to work at that higher rpm is going to kill the bottom end. You might need a 7 speed box to go with it.
Yeah that's what he was saying, to try and set it up so the maximum torque come's in at 16000 rpm's. His mate has his own bike repair shop, and it look's like he does a few custom's and race bike's etc He sound's pretty switched on.
my initial reaction is this is some kind of pie in the sky but we’ve all seen what Craig can do so........subscribed. Should be an interesting thread to watch over the holidays!!
I would think that the EXUP would help retain some low end torque, though it would probably need remapping. The FZR's have way better torque from idle to 10k RPM than the other 250's in my experience, the ZXR being pitiful below 7,000 with an open pipe.
No way on Earth would I want to try to tune a Fizzer for 56hp, much rather fit a Rotrex supercharger.
I'm not a dyno guy, but Ken from Victorian Motorcycle Wreckers here in Melbourne gets 43+hp (rwhp?) from his period 6 race bike, but I'm not sure what mods the engine has had. I have a feeling they run a standard TCI as I recall Ken was looking at getting an Ignitech unit at some stage to have a play with it. Be interesting to see what the Team Tiger guys get out of their Period 6 CBR250R race bikes. How great would it be to get 56hp out of a 4-stroke normally-aspirated 2fiftycc. I will be watching this thread too.
43Hp at the wheel is pretty sweet . btw did you end up running your bike again after sorting out the carbs @Linkin
Is this a legitimate component and will I be able to plug it in to the existing wiring. Also is there a English site?
I never heard how he went with this. It would need to have wire's and plug's soldered to it etc to work, but i doubt you can get the one for the Exup What year is your bike again ?
