Decided to do a full resto on guzzi Le Mans. Rusty frame necessitates full paint/rust removal/re paint. Can anyone recommend a company in sydney to get this frame back to bare metal?
Your only real option is blasting... I originally spent plenty of time looking at Acid dipping but they issue is they cannot guarantee that they can neutralise everything as every frame has small holes to allow gasses to come out when they weld them up and when they dip it the acid gets in.. Find someone who will blast it with fine media but you need to at least get some etch prime onto it pretty much straight away after blasting. As always preparation is key.. any areas you are concerned about, highlight them and maybe mask up with Duct tape so you can attack them later with wire brushes etc. Or... go at it yourself with good paint stripper and a myriad of wire brushes, flappy wheels etc.

Found this place while snopping around. If they do car panel's , they'd use very fine media which is needed. Stay way clean of course media as it will make a hell of a mess to the metal. You could ask the local bike spray painter's who does there blasting work for them. At'least this way you'd be safe that they'd use fine media. Preparation for blasting is the key. Old screws into any tapped holes in the frame. I remove steering head races and make up large washers for top and bottom of the steering head. A piece of threaded rod with nuts top and bottom keeps it together. Whether you're painting or powdercoating, it's got to be clean. I won't use powdercoat on frames. I can get them primed by the blasters here then stove enamelled at another firm. One coat for race frames, two or three with rubdowns between for concours road frames.
