The Federal Government has just revoked Consumer Protection Notice No.9, which means that ECE (European) approved helmets will now be legal for manufacturers to import to Australia. For those states that have already approved the use of those helmets, it means you should soon start seeing them on shop shelves, and for the states that have not, they now have no excuse to avoid approving their use. This has been worked on by rider advocates all over the country, and Guy Stanford is the man who has made all this possible. https://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2015L01845
Delighted to hear and its about bloody time if you ask me! All they need to do now is help get the likes of the shite aldi helmets (and others like it) off the shelf and used them for plant pots.......thats all they are useful for if you ask me.
So we can purchse from FC-Moto.de at half the cost and be legal , nice. Hopefully all codes of bike racing, Drags, and motorsport follow suit.
Politicians dream up useless legislation, the "Consumer Protection No. 9" being an example, to justify their otherwise meaningless existence. Each one of these useless acts restricts the freedom of the people who they are meant to represent. Those people then find it more and more difficult to earn a living, feed their family and pay taxes. From an ever diminishing pool of taxpayers a greater burden of taxation is needed to continue the cycle. Aah rant over for the day I feel better now.
