Went for a lunch run with some friends yesterday on the ZZR250. Did an easy 162Km and am impressed at how good the little bike sits on the road. I think that with a bigger screen and some higher bars that I could do some big K's on this bike.

The latest wander involved the CF Moto and a three day wander to the Moto GP at Phillip Island. Went down the Putty road, across the Bell's road to Lithgow and on to Oberon for the night. Next day to Goulburn, Braidwood and down the Brown mountain to Batemans Bay and on to Bermigue for the night. Followed the coast around to Eden where I joined the Prince's Highway to Sale. Next day went to museum at Maffra before heading into Melbourne. Down to P I next morning dodging the rain showers and very cold at the track. Was great to see and hear the Moto 3's flat down the straight.
Left Melbourne Monday morning after what I thought was 'peak hour' but still got in the traffic 'dog fight'. Turned off the highway and went Kyneton, Heathcote, Shepparton to Cobram for the night. Up to Jerilderie, Narrandera, West Wyalong through to Peak Hill where my bum cried enough for the day. Next morning home through Dubbo, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah and home. 8 days on the road and 3,172Km. The CF didn't miss a beat and apart from being covered in insects is ready to go again, but will let my ar*e recover first.

The bike park at the Island. Cost $10.00 to park but they gave you a piece of plywood to put under the stand.

Good weather most of the way, came close to getting damp around P.I. but sunny and warm for rest.

Went to visit my youngest grandson for his birthday and give him the toys I've been restoring (https://2fiftycc.com/index.php?threads/other-stuff-ive-been-doing-lately.10266/). Packed the CF Moto and off early morning. Few stops on way and arrived for lunch and unwrapping. Couple of days with family and home again. Another 1,000Km added to the speedo.

I have been using a gell pad on the seat but find that it only helps for a while before my bum gets sore again. It also doesn't breathe and causes a sweaty patch that bought on a rash on the Phillip Island ride. It might be ok with the sheepskin over the top, but didn't find a big improvement on it's own.

Bought this sheep skin from Big W baby department. Lovely and soft and makes a big difference on long hot rides.

Rode my Honda FT500 to Inverell (about 280Km) for the bike rally last weekend. Found a few back roads to play on the way. Motel for night and on rally ride after show next morning. Leasurily ride home in perfect Autumn weather on empty roads. Checked the err 'puddle' (Copeton dam, when full hold five times the volume of Sydney Harbour) on the way.

Stopped at the Myall Creek Massacre memorial (in 1838 stockmen, on the orders of their boss Henry Dangar murdered a tribe of aboriginals. Seven of the men were later hanged for their crimes) and put a red stone on the cairn.

Off again to attend a Honda ST owners club get together in Balranald.
Had coffee with bike group before leaving and spent first night in Parkes. On through Griffith (where I got a little damp, only rain for whole trip) to Hay for second night, arriving at Balranald in time for a rest before dinner. 27 from five states (QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC and SA) enjoyed good food and laughs.
Sunday I met with two other riders and we went on back roads to Mildura. Wanted to visit the Holden museum but it was closed on Mondays so we travelled to Broken Hill, Silverton (what a tourist trap), Cobar, Coonabarabran and home. 2,800Km added to speedo and bike ran perfectly. We sat on $1.20 most of the time and even with the headwind still got 22Km/l. The wind was so strong that I had to lean left (into the wind) around right hand corners, interesting!
And this is why there will never be any boats going up the rivers any more.

    Balranald trip May 19 026.jpg
Went to Silverton (the birthplace of Resch's brewery) but there is nothing left now but a pub (rip off prices), some 'artist' shacks and a small museum in old goal.

Stopped for breakfast in Nyngan and found this Iroquois helicopter that had been in the battle of Long Tan and was brought back and later used in the town evacuation in the 1980 floods. It was gifted to the town when it was decommissioned in 1990.

I like to hear about your trips; they sound more interesting than mine, as well as less troublesome and more organised! I'd like to go a wee wandering, but I have enough troubles getting home by 9pm each night... Not to mention all the things I'm meant to do at home. You know what they say: a procrastinator's work is never done!

Met with 8 other riders for a run over the mountains to the National Motorcycle Museum at Nabiac, NSW.

We left in bright sunshine and by the time we got to top of ranges (Thunderbolts Way) were in the clouds and drizzle. On with the wet gear. Wet all the way through Gloucester to museum. After the museum and a late lunch we rode up the highway (yawn) to Wauchope for the night. Just got my bag into the pub room and down came the rain, and didn't ease up until early morning. Country club for dinner and drinks. Next morning, refuelled and on to Gingers Creek for breakfast with wet roads all the way up the Oxley Highway to Walcha. Home to drought again.
    Look what I found first.

Out for a 200Km run with my son on his new (to him) 2017 SWM 440 Turismo. Great day on quiet roads, nice weather and a bit of bonding. :)

:thumb_ups: Yeah... having coffee at Nundle Cafe with my wife, and heard the bikes coming down the street... Said to the wife.. that is a FT500, haven't seen one of those for a while, last one I saw was when I went to see Murdo for some spark plug lead wire... LOL..

This weekend, hopefully the wind will stay away and I will be going through the Hume, past Gingers Ck and on to the Ellenborough reserve (just before Long Flat) for lunch and then back home again.

Think you mean Oxley Highway, not Hume (be a long trip to Ellenborough via the Hume highway). Enjoy the ride. :)

Packed my XLent 250s and headed off to explore some local back roads. I have never seen the country so dry and devoid of grass.

Bingara adventure ride 2019 008.jpg Bingara adventure ride 2019 006.jpg Bingara adventure ride 2019 009.jpg

Stayed the night in Bingara and met up with some friends at Bike Territory (https://www.biketerritory.com.au/) next morning. Took off the saddle bags, tank bag and mirrors for a ride around the hills before a BBQ lunch. Repacked the bike, put the fuel from the 4 Litre I had strapped on the back in and headed for home on roads I had never travelled before. About 20Km from Barraba I had a flat rear tyre. I tried the green goo that I have been carrying around for years in the tube but it would not hold air, so out with the stand and spanners/tyre levers. I carry a 21" tube on the front guard (as this will fit both front and rear) and folded it to fit in the rear 18" tyre, pumped it up, back in the bike and away.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 013.jpg
The 12" shifter that some people laugh at me carrying proved it's worth. Undo axel nut, use as hammer to knock axel out, ground down end for tyre lever, knock axel back in and do up nut.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 012.jpg
After losing time with the flat I pushed on home down the tar racing the shadows as I didn't want to rely on the 6volt candle that serves as a headlight.
Home safe but sore after nearly 600Km on 75% dirt roads in two days.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 014.jpg
When I looked at the tube this morning it had a 6mm long split in it. I patched it and will keep for a spare. I bought a new heavy duty tube and fitted it into the rear tyre so I could put my spare back. So much easier to do at home with concrete and stands to work on.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 022.jpg
Re packed the 21" back into the box and put back on guard.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 023.jpg
A clean up, lube the chain and she's ready for the next ride.
    Bingara adventure ride 2019 024.jpg
Shows you don't need a 1200cc+ BMW/KTM to go adventure riding.

Sounds good, the ride, that is, not the drought. Makes me feel like getting the DR350 on the road.

I have been riding the kx250 on a rim-lock because it wouldn't hold air and I couldn't have been bother fixing it. Also, your shifter is better than my hammer and chisel, because that was all I had to loosen and tighten a wheel axle...

After the roadside tyre repair on Sunday I had forgotten to zip up the tool bag until nearly into Barraba, and have lost one of my tyre levers. I hadn't been out with the CF650TK for a while so fired it up and went back to where I had repaired the tyre. No sign of the lever anywhere or on the road, but was worth a look, so continued on to a short winding section of road. After swooping the corners I realised I hadn't taken any photos so had to ride back up, take photos and do it again. Tough I know, but someone has to ride these roads.

Instead of going back into town I continued on, checking out some other back roads for some bends. I found this monument to another wandering pom, Alan Cunningham who crossed the Manilla river here in 1827 on his way to Queensland.

I took a short cut through a dirt road to the village of Upper Horton to rejoin the tar back to Barraba for lunch.
This old 1930's Sunshine (made in Melbourne) No2 Harvester was the cutting edge in grain harvesting in it's day, now just an abandoned wreck on the side of the road. Sad to see.

Good day with nearly 350Km clocked up on quiet roads.
