    check the ignition switch connections in the head light...it also uses the green and b/w wire to earth out the cdi when key is switch off..check the continuity of the b/w wire from the ignition switch and ground, should have continuity when key is off and none when key is on....also check the black/white wire hasnt shorted anywhere.....

    how is your earth strap ? Is the harness properly earthed ?

    Edit: If i do ever get it running, i'm taking it on a ridiculous road trip!

    I have some reasonable rear shocks, a coil and a couple of bits that you can have for the price of postage from VIC to SA and a 6 pack if you're interested. Just want them out of the shed now.

    ITS RUNNING!!!!!!!

    Moral of the story, dont use chinese cdi units. Paid $120 for a used one,yeah a bit pricey but it works! Now to find all the bits to put it back together

    All back together, 35km test ride completed. Will give it a proper wash on the weekend. Only other thing to fix is..... Bloody fork seals! 20180215_215140-800x600.jpg

    I have seen this mentioned a few times now, i think i might give it a shot!

    In other news, i rode it to work this morning.....20kms later i lost all electrics. Turned it off at work, never to be started again. Maybe that chinese regulator has fried my battery/everything :( the fun continues!

    After hiring a forensics team for the weekend my multimeter has been recovered......

    Battery is not getting charge, Chinese regulators....

    Update: Have now done 550kms, changed the oil again tonight but she still sounds like a truck, cams may be damaged. I am yet to do a compression test.

    Ill change and 135km round trip on a work day, life is good:

    With the engine noise, have you checked the valve clearance's ?

    Not yet, fingers crossed its that easy but it sounds worse. Ill check them this weekend

    Could be a noisy cam chain too
