Gday Lads, may have just came across the score of the century. A mate of mine had his registered Zeal 250 lose its lunch all over the road a couple of days ago, suspecting major engine internal damage. Anyway, he rings me up, asks if i can pick it up and for payment i can keep the Zeal, has no means of getting it and has another reg'd bike on the way. Now i just so happen to have a spare 3LN motor in my shed for the worlds longest track bike build I have going. So my question is are the 3LN engines compatible completely with the Zeal's? do i have to change any Zeal components over to make the 3LN engine run with the spare motor i have? And any tips for cleaning the internals of the spare engine without stripping it completely down, as i reckon there is probably a milllion spiders and a shovel full of dust camped inside it, after living on the shelf in the shed for a few years...lol. Cheers for looking, Glenn.
Don't know about the fitting, but if the intake/exhaust ports have been left uncovered you may be able to clean them with compressed air then a wipe out with an oil soaked rag. Don't worry too much about spiders as they burn through combustion.
It's basically the same engine but with modified cams and slightly different CDI box. What year did you FZR engine come out of (2kr, 3LN1 etc..)?
Differences are in the head, cams, cdi & carbs. Believe the bottom end is the same. I know for a fact that the crank is the same across all 3LN's and the Zeal. Can't say about the engine mounts. Best to just try and get it in and see what happens. You would want to put in the engine, CDI, carbs, and also the exhaust headers and EXUP from the 3LN if you have them. Otherwise you will need to dyno the bike and mess with the jetting.
I'll join that queue - I'm after a gearbox countershaft - the one that the sprocket goes onto if you're splitting the cases
Cheers for all the replies fellas, havent received the bike yet, but hoping too in the following few days. Ill let yas know what i find when i start digging into its bowels..lol. Cheers.
