Yamaha have released an R3 Cup version with lots of goodies for $7900 http://www.cycleonline.com.au/2016/03/01/yamahas-r3-cup-contender-on-display-at-worldsbk/ Yamaha Motor Australia unveiled its first race specification YZF-R3 at last weekend’s Phillip Island WorldSBK opening round, the 321cc learner bike set for its R3 Cup in the Yamaha Motor Finance Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) this year Race kit features: – Fairing kit including front fender and tank cover in black gelcoat (uses stock screen). – Akrapovic full racing exhaust system with titanium muffler. – Racing rear sets with multiple adjustments. – Handlebar lowering kit. – Gearing set JT – one front, two rear (optional sizes). – MUPO Suspension kit (complete rear shock absorber with adjustable pre-load, ride height and rebound damping. Front fork kit with springs, spacers and shim stack). – Graphics kit with all series and bonus sponsors logos supplied. – R+G protection kit including crash knobs, engine case covers, rear stand pick-ups, chain guard, radiator protector. – R+G muffler mounting bracket. – AIS pollution system block off plate. – Yamalube Service Kit (four litres of synthetic engine oil and filter). – Oxford rear race stand. – CD with parts book, service manual, kit fitment manual, etc. To make it even easier, the customer may purchase the racing YZF-R3 using YMF finance. With the package price of $7900, the repayment amount over a 12-month term would be $168 per week or over a 24-month term $88. To be eligible for the R3 Cup championship, as well as the considerable prize and contingency packages that will be on offer, four of the five rounds that are planned need to be competed.
i hear ya mate.......i'm trying to drum up sponsorship, if i cant get a major sponsor for the season i wont be racing as i simply cant afford it this year on another note that R3 though.....yumo!
Watching all six of them? Id rather watch (and compete) in the real competition that is Proddie racing. Last minute rule changes affect everyone.
you can now change the rear shock and add fork caps, great for those with the $$ to spend 6 weeks before season gets under way. good old MA
Interpretation of that rule is gonna be huge. Could extend to running full cartriges with dampening adjusters hidden by the preload adjusters.
R3's put out around 37-40rwhp all over the web. Yamaha quotes 42. They are 320.6cc. The engine is a surprise package, very fast, torquey and crisp.
