28? Mate age is not a factor in anything u do Im 62 soon ..... Im raising my 6 year old son , have a 19yr old girlfriend and ride a 250 on L plates ..... next is running the Fizzer or ZXR down the drag strip and getting to Qld for some track days .
All very very good points, only reason for leaving fzr out is the rarity. current market has like 1 in nsw atm. I dooo think parts would be easier to get on a yamy vs a zxr however the zxr's do seem to be coming up WRECKED for like 500$ for scrap parts fairly often. hahaha misses, the worst thing about my misses is she owns a zxr that beats my across =( and shes probably a better ridder, somehow she seems to gain a second or 2 on me in right hand turns of roundabouts... BITCH!!!! But she does want me to keep going with the across. Needless to say, its always for the women.
Hmmm good reason to find a ZXR!! They come up a lot on Gumtree... FZR's too That's cool, your girlfriend riding a ZXR.... bring it on....
HAHAHAHAHA hey.... your from Tamworth!!! i was born there in Tamworth, I miss the happy little steam roller the most. My grandfather Rex Bryant was the lawn bowls champion in a few different genres? umm devisions? ummm.... hmmm he was good at rolling a ball....
Seriously dude, they aint half bad bikes. I had a ZZR and it rode similar to the across - I don't think either in the 250cc range are known for being particularly punchy/fast bikes. They're good all rounders though.
23E Underdog, no way, Im going go out on a limb and say the mighty across is a very underated bike and punches well above its weight . It carries a bit of extra weight due to the steel frame, but hey I carry a bit of weight and I am under rated too Seriously though, if the carbs are sorted, they pull nicely through the rev range and have the appearance and feel of a much larger bike. The man bag is cool, you can fit 2 6 packs in there, maybe I need to buy one..... well I am actually going to look at one tonight.
I'm 27 this year and just started racing never to old said before and will again I looked at all options and the mc22 (cbr250rr) is ur best option can get one race ready for around 2-3G I know someone who selling for 1700 very cheap Parts are everywhere and u will learn more on one of these than a 2 stroke On the cdi my opinion is of they were true everyone man and his dog would have one but they don't as unless u have a geniune hrc which are impossible to find or tell if real it just a u restricted cdi (talking about cbr one thou) I'm sponsored by a bike dyno store and if they thought there was truth behind this I would of bought one and had a dyno sheet up already!!! As I said only my opinion if u think it worth while give it a go and let us know the results as we would all love to know if they are true
with the CDI thing I probably will put it to rest because I see no evidence on the net that anyone has actually done it except for 50cc scooter owners which some claim amazing results. The theory is there, I guess. The 1994 models were restricted and went from 33kw to 29kw (I believe) yet nothing about the engine seems to have changed and there is no evidence of restriction anywhere. Its pretty easy to point to the cdi. The concept of a better timed ignition from the spark plug closer the the end of the stroke would make substantial difference on some of our machine. By no means do I think these Chinese ones are legit, however I do think it would TOTALLY be worth confirming how much difference a CDI makes buy also testing and purchasing an earlier model's cdi before the restrictions came into play.
Possibly, the bore and stroke is the same as the across's engine even though its a different engine model. However I am not sure if the igniter/magnetic disk thing is different on the different models/engines.
