I'm getting an after market exhaust made up to look similar to the stock one. Have been recommend to go 4-1-2 so hopefully goes well. Where about you located in Brisbane Garry?
So after few msgs back and forth with @kiffsta i realised I had no bottom chain gaurd fab one up today and wacked on bike for rd1
Parked the FZR at work and took my Ninja home... It pales in comparison. I have the urge to sell it. Also discovered that the clutch cable is swiss cheese. Hanging on by a feel steel strands... not the best start to long weekend
I have asked around and people are having the same reaction as you... heating up the carbs would be a bad idea in Australia cause it would raise the temp of the fuel making it want ti ignite quicker... well thats what was said to me... I will admit i didnt think it was the heated model so when i pulled the line off and fluid came out i did wonder why fuel was being fed into the caebs in 2 places.. then i realised it didnt smell like fuel which just had me royally confused.. so i had to re-read the book
Did some work on the MC21 today. Only thing I need to do now is put the radiator on, adjust the RC valves and bolt down the fuel tank. I'm missing the rubber for it but for now I'll cut some rubber I have to do the job. Keen to take it for a ride. The MC21 rear tyre is shot (previous owners doing) so hopefully the MC18 rear wheel fits with ease. It's an old tyre too, but at least it has plenty of tread. It's an R model but has an SE engine. Plan is to get USD forks eventually. Would possibly consider trading a Wet clutch MC21 engine for USD front end for it (RVF400 preferably). I'm also (slowly) making my own dash for it which will have a remote to turn it on, lap timer, speed only, RPM only, clock, and perhaps on the future an inbuilt GPS tracker. A bunch more features but it's not the highest priority at the moment.
As Mr Grey would say "carbs, carbs, carbs". Worked on finishing assembly and updating online guide as I go. http://www.litetek.co/Guide_MikuniBDST_Rebuild.html
Tyga fairings are pretty good as far as quality goes. For what you pay for it's good value, at least in my opinion. They've been getting better at what they make as well and seem to improve on their designs. I can't say enough good things about them though. Always keen to help you with any problems you have and very prompt. I mean, I have ideas on how they could improve their products but as far as the fairing quality goes, it's quite good. I was told to make sure their are no pinholes in the primer with Tyga fairings. Although I have never noticed any problems like that (pinholes in the fairings).
Spent about 4 hours cleaning my bike that I'll never get back. Every time I go for a ride when it's wet I say never again.
Made up a little rear tray for the Tyga sub frame. Tyga were notorious for not giving the rectifier much of a mounting and overheating causes them to fail (which ruins other things, of most concern is the PGM). Anyway, fits well. Only problem is making sure it all fits and the wires aren't stretched or anything. I just have to make up small mounts for the indicator relay and Fuse box. Although I'm tempted to just double-side tape them down.
finally got around to putting on the cylinder head i bought off hunstmen (3 months after i got it), didnt realise how rusty and shitty the actual engine was inside. Doesnt matter now, got her up to a buck 50 quicker than ever with no missing up high in the revs, plus its pulling much better from 12k+. also starting and idling are perfect now, so only got the clutch left to do and it should be as good as its gonna get.
Ordered a clutch cable for the Ninja, and found a 3LN6/7 dash on ebay. Was just talking about it last night. Ain't it great when things work out?
Put the OEM mudguard, replacement stator cover gasket and lower fairings back on the FZR400. Now I need to figure out how to attach the rear indicators...
