I'm going to cut this story very short... Basically I was followed up Mt Nebo by and R1 and where the set of lights are for the road works are I let him pass.... I gave him some room as I could carry more speed through corners then on a blind right corner i was traveling about 50-60 kph leaning in the corner.. Then I see the same R1 mid corner going very slow... Now I'm not blaming him.. If anything its my fault.. I had 2 choices A) rear end him and wreck 2 bikes B) Try my frikkin hardest to pull my bike up.... I went with option B as i was already on the rear brake i grabbed a handful of front brake... This made the bike stand up.. I avoid him and hit the clay wall.... As soon as he entered my line of sight the only thing i would think was "no. no. no. no. no. no. no." so after i hit the wall i picked the bike up and rolled down the hill to a flat area.. I could feel vibration through the left rear set.. It was bent.. so i kick the crap out of it so the chain wasnt rubbing on it... i managed to smash the mirror and the lens of the left indicator.. and put a few scratches in the paint job.. thank god it was softish clay.. also the bike startetd FIRST try.. I really do love this bike.. if i had have hit the rock wall i would be in hospital... but a quick phone call to chris and a few dollars spent she is all straight and back on the road I await all criticism... lol
You saved yourself and some other dickhead from serious injury, so what is there to criticise? Shame you damaged you bike.
I like glorious but I found same problems when I use to ride my wr or fzr up there ppl on big bikes sitting up my arse then when I let them through they ride like they on a scooter unlucky mate but at least u ok and bike easy to fix could be worse
Cheers lads..But there will always be haters... So I am expecting some... A MASSIVE thanks to @kiffsta and @Phil for the parts and the yarn... @Mclaren I know what you mean.. I have had big bikes over take me on straight sections but as soon has i hunt them down in the corners they crack it... But I admit it is fun when they say "what size is that?"
no worries mate, shame I couldn't stick around to finish the job, how is the wrist ?? have you considered changing the name of your bike to something without "Hill" in it ?
I think "gaurdian" will suit her better. I have been very lucky riding her almost got cleaned up coming home from your place through Capalaba. Old lady wasn't watching and merged into me. Mate the breaks work really well lol. Not to mention the near misses near where I live. Then there was the incident where the police man assumed I was speeding but didn't have a radar so couldnt tell me my speed. So let me go.
Oh no Tim sorry to hear mate! Lessons are there to be learnt the lesson here is trust NO-ONE ON THE ROAD! As long as you are ok! We all make mistakes, for instant I had an absolute xxxxxx xxxx of a day today. There is always someone out there having a worse one, so at the very least take solace in that. It sounds like some good people have already got you on the road again So chin up mate!
Crashing hurts trust me I tried it... some minor scrapes but back pain, knee pain, soreness, short of breath... makes it hard to do a 300KM ride the next day (doh)
Sounds like you took the best available option. Glad to hear both you and the bike are relatively ok! My housemate is superstitious about renaming vehicles. I took her advice and kept Eric's name the same - but he still doesn't run...
glad to hear you and the bike are basically ok. you need eyes in both the front and back of your head on a bike.
Her name is always going to be Hildegarde... I wont change that.. The female name Hildegard derived from the Old High German words hild (=war or battle) and gard (=protection) and means "protecting battle-maid" basically the same thing... just different ways of saying it lol^^^^ was a copy and paste.. im not trying to be snobby lol
Glad you and the bike are basically ok-Im sure many of us have had an "incident" which is etched in the memory bank for life...Ken By the way,did the bloke in front stop and assist you?
Mate he didn't even know it happened... I think that's what annoyed me more.. but when i was on the flat a guy on a 996 duke stopped and asked if i was all good... Then to add insult to injury the R1 was coming the other way when I was limping the bike home.. So I tried to motioning him to stop and he nodded and kept riding... so was annoyed but can hardly blame him when he had no idea..
Sorry for this Tim but it jogs the memory bank-What if admin were to start a new heading in the forum for new and existing riders or potential riders of a heading, "who had a whoops" like I forgot to put the stand down or- I started my bike in gear- or any type of fall or close call which i have all of the above, just a thought...Ken
