A few days ago the devil on my shoulder (yes, that's you Kiffsta!) convinced me to buy another bike.... i failed to resist and ended up throwing a few $$ into a track bike build. Why not eh? The bike was already set up fairly well upon inspection. has new front rotors, pads, braided lines, headlights eliminated, a proper service and er, yeah Hot pink fairings..... only thing i could pick on the bike was both fork seals nackered... overall, the bloody thing looks cleaner underneath than my 1994 model i recently forked out bigger $$ for! does it start? apparently.... is the gearbox and clutch ok?? who knows. first thing i did was get some cheap rattle cans and dream up a simple, yet trendy scheme.... "The Pink Panther" look just does not sit well with me! i chose a light blue, a glossy red and a flat white, more to come when i finish painting. stay tuned for a look at my fairings once i finish
Hey Cal Nice looking bike, fingers crossed you don't find too many gremlins??? I'm with you, Pink wouldn't be my colour of choice. Look forward to watching your progress.
Nice mate I look for way to watching my cbr forks were busted on race bike so getting them done but they had pitting on them so they off getting re chromed might be worth checking if yours are otherwise they will keep busting just a thought
yeah i remember my 88' zxr250 had bad pitting... the cheaper alternative to re-chrome was epoxy resin! the guys at the bike shop did an excellent job
Hey Cal, Good score mate, that's a steal for $900 @XCite Bikes sells fork seal kits including oil for $25 http://xcitebikes.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_1002_100215&product_id=1539 Im running Sava MC50 tyres on mine and are very happy with them, $300 delivered from Whites Racing Products http://www.savatyres.com.au/race.html Cheers Chris
hey mate, mine has 2x new bridgestone Battleaxe tyres, will try the MC50's once i toast these ones for sure
Today's progress on the paint job, it's now raining so tools down. - also charged up a battery to see if the engine would turn over... yep no worries! front fender is still wet, it follows the white/blue stripe scheme total cost in paint (including clear coat) with plenty to finish all panels.... = $45
*update* checked for spark, got a healthy blue firing in all 4 cyl.... carbs may be a tad blocked up, not even sure if they are getting fuel, will be investigating more this weekend
awesome - will do , hahaha it probably could use a good 3-bond treatment for sure! did not think of that
ahhhh so you are the new owner of it..........looking forward in seen you up at barbs mate! you'll be hard press destroying a set of tyres quick, you'll get great life from tyres on a 250! trust me. all the best with the project!
haha I think anyone who'd be on trakdayz FB page knows Jordan and his new R6 lol. he's some man for posting and getting board quick with bikes. think he went from a rs125 to a ninja250 to the cbr to the r6 and last i heard he want a cbr1000? each to their own anyway, best of luck with your new toy mate! hopefully I'll see you out at the track.
more progression on the track bike during the public holiday - it also runs now!! sounds like this motor is in better health than my 94' model too
up next for the bike is a set of Tyga mirror blanking plates, some float needles and a big jetting kit oh and er, paint the fuel tank and the other fairings too! then im ready for a track day
